Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I love the diversity of the school and the curriculum. However, the office staff is not welcoming and the principal is a rude witch. My students came from a similar school but the faculty and staff were so kind and friendly. If Wellwood had a friendlier office staff I would give it more stars.

I attended this school and must say that it is the best one I have ever been to. I started at a private school and was only making an B or C average. When I moved to Wellwood by the time I was in fourth grade I had straight As and was moved to advanced placement. The children at wellwood came from all over the world. The faculty were all very supportive. Wellwood is the best school I have ever attended.

The school itself is great , but the principal is not so good she is the rudest person that you will ever meet it disgusts me to know that someone like her could be in charge of a school she is not a nice lady .Most elementary school principals are kind this principal isn't and they only care about test scores at this school while putting everything else on the back burner I love the French program and the teacher she is very kind .Hopefully they get another principal and some different people at the desk most of them are all very mean .

Wellwood is a great school. the teachers really take the time to make sure the students understand what is going on. The teachers really care for the children and want them to leave Wellwood speaking good french and ready for middle school in the core subjects. I am a student at Wellwood.

Wellwood has a principal that only believes in test scores. She does not support the French Magnet program and reduces the hours they spend in French. The teachers greatly dislike her and are frequently transferring out of the school. Many have referred to her as a bully. She is self-serving and dishonest with parents.

We have completed one school year at Wellwood and we could not be happier with our decision to send our children to this school. I love the enthusiasm of the principal, teachers, and staff! Each one, down to the janitorial staff, takes a personal interest in the children. The only area where I could see improvement is with the parents. Our school has great parent participation but hey, the more the merrier!

I find this school lacks leadership. Leadership starts from the top and the staff will follow. Our daughter was accepted into the French Magnet program, so I decided to visit and see how the school operates. After a brief walk through I decided this school was not for our daughter. They have a lot to improve and it starts from the top. I recommend any parent looking for a good school to look elsewhere you will not be disappointed in your decision.

This school claims to be a magnet and international school but lacks the essence of both. They only teach, I mean offer french and no other "international languages" SMH!! Just because they hang flags from other countries does not make this an international school! Plus the teachers don't even push the students. My son was placed in the "red group"( 3 letter )words until he came home with the wrong list for the "blue group"(8+ letters). Once we questioned the teacher why is he in the red group, she said because he was doing fine in the red group and didnt think about putting him in the blue group. She said would give him a try and the blue group and he did great. I will no longer send my child to a school that has educational limits. If you don't get a bigger flower pot then the plant won't grow to its full potential!! So much for no child left behind! Stay away!!

Be careful if you think about sending your child to this school. They only focus on numbers/ratings/ test scores. All else falls second, literally. They claim to be a magnet school because of the french program, which is very limited to a handful students. They wait until 4 or 5th grade for music. The teachers don't challenge all of the kids. This school is a joke!!

This is a great school and also culturally diverse with students from all backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. It has been a great experience so far for my child. Baltimore County Public Schools needs to provide more necessities like air conditioning for classrooms and the cafeteria, but overall a great school and supportive community.

My grand-daughter started Wellwood in the magnet as a kindergarden student and is now in the 5th grade. I sat in her fist day at school and wacthed and listened to children being spoken to in French and their understanding what was going on. What makes Wellwood's magnet so special is that these children stay together for their entire elementary school experience. My grand-dughter shared with me that everyone in her class except for 2 students will all be attending the same middle school's advance French magnet program. This is a special school and program. Thank You, Wellwood.

My son has been at Wellwood for three years and he is in the magnet program. this school is not all it's cracked up to be. The only work that he seems to receive is french work. every piece of paper that comes home is in french with no english translation and sometimes he doesn't even know what to do. The teachers when asked how the child is doing they will say very good until the work is sent home and all they are doing great in is French. The best thing that I have found about this school is the warm response you get from the staff, diversity and the Mr. Burke is outstanding. I would not recommend the magnet program to anyone unless they want there children to grow up and move to France.

My son is in 1st grade. He loves going to school, have fun w/kids at school. His teacher Miss Redmond is very good, the principal is super!! I haven't seen a principal that serves the students like Mr. Burke. I also attended their Diversity Day and I loved it!! If you want your child to know and to learn to respect other race and nationality, then this is the place to go.

Dont care much for this school. My son transferred from another county school last year. His teachers are very old fashioned meaning- the students dont enjoy being in class. My son comes home saying that he hates his teacher.

Our son started kindergarten here excited and happy. But a few weeks into the year, he was punched in the face on the bus, a classmate stole his sandwich during lunch and stomped on it, and there were numerous children in his class who had serious behavior problems that constantly demanded the teacher's attention. The classroom was overcrowded with 22 students in a small room. Despite claiming to support healthy eating habits, the school provides pepperoni pizza, hot dogs, popcicles daily at lunch and allows all students to choose their own food. Snacks in kindergarden included oreos, popcicles, chocolate pudding, gummi worms, cookies, cheez-its. Buses are unreliable, picking up children 10-30 minutes late in the AM. Despite its reputation in the past, Wellwood's student body has undergone drastic population change recently, reflected especially in the younger grades, where parent involvement is low and children are not academically oriented or well behaved.

My daughter has been at Wellwood for three years. Tis is one of the better schools in the area. However the books are, especially the Math books are very outdated. I expected more from this school, from Baltimore County in general. They are on their 3rd principal in 3 years. Not happy with that at all.

This school is amazing! Their academic level is exemplary. In addition to the French Immersion program offered for select students in all grades, this year they are offering French to kindergarten through second grade for all students. The teachers really go the extra mile to ensure the children comprehend their curriculum; not just shuffling them along to the next grade. My son loves this school.
