The McLean School used to be a good school but there have been many recent problems with the administration and that turmoil has had a drastic, negative effect on the overall program, especially the middle school. The recent hiring of a Head of School with NO education credentials, NO teaching experience, NO special education experience, and his only experience with independent schools is with the budget and financial functions (again, NO experience related to the educationl aspects of schooling). It is alarming that The McLean School would take this direction and put children's education in the hands of such inexperience (for $35,000/year). Teacher quality is also suffering as good teachers are leaving because of the recent history of poor management and administration. Be very wary of sending your children here. This year will be our last after years of watching the program decline.

The mcLean School is easily one of the most overlooked schools in the greater Washington DC area. My son is currently enrolled after having attended another highly rated school in the District and it has transformed my demoralized boy into a confident and thriving student who is clearly on the path to success. Finally! A school that teaches and not rely on kids who teach themselves!

Both of my children go to McLean School. As a family we all love McLean. We love McLean because it is a very friendly and warm place to learn. We love all of the teachers and staff who respect the children as the children respect them. As a result the children learn to respect each other. The teachers don't just teach one style like many schools do. They realize that all students do not learn the same way, and so they teach in many different ways so everyone can learn. The teachers are always ready to take time to help the students with any problem whether in class or out of class. It's a GREAT place to learn!

This is the best school ever. I went here for 7 years. It was the best thing that had ever happened. The teachers are calm and welcoming and lovely to you. There are the nicest kids here. It could be your next school the key is Study, Raed, And Focuss on School work.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
