Washington high gets a bad vibe from the media but in fact it is a pretty nice school. The teachers care alot and almost all are friendly. They have a really great sport, band, and drama programs. Washington also has a great laptop program, that starts at the middle school. It is 8-12 grades, but 8 is seperated from the high school. They have thier own section and dont even see the high schoolers except when they leave for the day. The teachers try to help you out when you really need it and do everything they can to make sure you know everything to pass your hsa, and msa. The algebra teachers push you to learn on your own and help you when you need it. The prinicple enforces the school rules the second you walk in the door. Overall it is a really good school.

If the post from April 3, 2005 doesn't tell you everything you need to know, then you need to go back to school. (Look at the grammar and spelling.) As an alumna attending an extremely difficult college, I can look back and acknowledge that Washington was not a very good school. But that is not for lack of trying. The administration and teachers work extremely hard to help students. But the problems for Washington High are lack of funding, lack of public support, and lack of a good basis of education. If the school is ever able to find this support, the school and students will thrive. And parents do not worry there is a dress code.

Washington High School gets a bad reputation from the media, when in reality, it is a great school with caring faculty and many opportunitites. Somerset County in general is portrayed badly by the media, and I feel that we need to publicize the good things and events at WHS, as well as the students and their success in high school and college. All the students get along well and the teachers are eager to help them. As far as academics goes, several of my friends and I have competed for scholarships and awards on a national level and have been very successful. Washington provides a great education with a small student body which allows for one-on-one instruction. It is, in general, a great school with great kids!

There is to much racial tension between the students for the children to focus their attention on their studies. It's a shame!
