i recently transfered schools and am very happy with the change. my previous school was not so great. people there were rude and the classes were not challenging. at St. Es it is totally different, the people here are so nice students and staff. our pricipal is so nice, he is compationate, caring, kind, and very friendly. he is open arms to everyone. The classes are very funyou learn new things each day and the teachers really make sure you are comfortable is the class(having to do with the speed of learning the material and if you understand). if you want to move your child from their current school. this is the school to go to.( not to mention all the food is delicious and homemade)
This is our first year at St. E's and we are very happy with the switch from public school. I disagree with the comments about parents and cliques, we and our children feel very welcome to the community. The staff has gone out of their way to make any needed accomodations for our children. I wish the classes were a bit smaller, but the teachers (2) do a wonderful job of managing it. With the inclusion of faith and character teachings in their day, I have seen a change in the way my children speak and act. The principal at St.E's is very involved and approachable.
While I agree that the academics at this school are strong and the teachers and principal excellent, over the years the school has become too crowded, with some class sizes of over 30 students. Also, in several grades the kids are very cliquey, rude and entitled as are the parents. If you are looking for a small, close-knit environment where the parents and children truly respect and care for one another this is not it.
This is our first year at St Elizabeth and we are totally pleased with the school. It is the right mix of strong academics, living faith and caring environment. I agree with the compliments to the principal's leadership and would add that the teachers are outstanding as well. The school keeps parents engaged in activities which builds a true sense of community. Having studied myself in top schools, I would have liked to study at St E's.
We have three children and have been a part of the St. Elizabeth family for twelve years now. Our youngest is an eighth grader and I can't tell you how sad I am that it is our last year at this wonderful school. St. E's has provided my children with a quality educational experience in a nurturing environment. The principal has set high standards which are Christ-centered and values-oriented. Students are held accountable for their actions and bullying is not tolerated. We are proud and consider ourselves blessed to be a part of such a wonderful and caring community!
I have been a teacher in the Archdioceses for over 25 years and currently have the privilege of serving the children and families of St. Elizabeth Catholic School. I was disturbed to read a previous review alleging that bullying in our school has been overlooked. Under this administration, this is simply not true. Our entire community is committed to protecting the well-being, safety, and dignity of all our children. We even established a peace-makers team of students to help promote Christian values and positive conflict resolutions. We emphasize a different positive value every month and honor those students who exemplify such values. I will pray for those who feel their needs were unattended in the "past." The "present" St. Elizabeth's, however, is a gift, and I for one, am blessed to be part of such a special place where Christ is the model for our faculty and inspiration for our students.
St. Elizabeth School has a wonderful, warm atmosphere. The students are treated with love and respect by the teachers and staff. I am always amazed to see the students openly demonstrate their love of their teachers by giving them hugs when they see them in the hall. I think there is no greater testimony to the trust and love the students feel for their teachers, as well as the principal, who greets the students with personal interest all through each day. A great emphasis is put on respect for not only adults, but also for their peers. Our school counselor is very active in promoting character building programs and incentive projects for students caring for each other. The atmosphere of the hallways and classrooms is bright and cheerful. I think parents who have their children at St. Elizabeth School are indeed very blessed to have such a wonderful school atmosphere and such a strong academic program.
We transferred our three children from a catholic school in Prince Georges County to St. Elizabeth's 4 years ago. Initially, our children had a difficult time adjusting, but with the continued support and encouragement that they received from the dedicated teachers and administrative staff, they succeeded. St. Elizabeth's has a rigorous and challenging academic program, and fosters a faith-filled environment, where invididual differences are respected. Our children were forced to reach their full academic potential. We are looking forward to our youngest child's graduation in June, as she branches into new territory, carrying with her the torch of academic excellence and high moral standards that she received throughout her tenure at St. Elizabeth's.
We have been a part of St. Elizabeth s for almost 20 years, and our children have spent their precious formative years in a school where faith and morality are taught and modeled every day. But in the past several years our new principal s vision has taken this school to new heights: he has enhanced all aspects of an already strong academic program; he has retained extremely dedicated and talented teachers in every subject; he has broadened the scope of counseling and student support positions; and his assistant principal and staff are outstanding. He brings a true Christian atmosphere to the school with his constant mantra of kindness and respect for all, coupled with students daily prayer and regular participation in the sacraments. The parents are involved and friendly, and all this nourishes the seeds of faith and learning in our children. We thank the very special teachers whose faith and hard work have passed wonderful gifts on to our children, and believe St. Elizabeth's sets a very high standard for Catholic education.
We have four children and have been at St. Elizabeth School for the past 11 years. Two of our children are in local Catholic high schools and are doing very well. They each differ in their social and academic needs yet all of their needs have been met due to the dedication of St. E's teachers and Principal. Great teachers who truly care, wonderful leadership, and involved community. I highly recommend it!
Our two sons, a first-grader and a third-grader, love St.E's and we do too. We know from experience that our boys are receiving a top-notch education in a faith-filled school community. The principal, the teachers, the staff, are caring and supportive of the children. They set an example for students that goes well beyond the classroom and informs their lives as growing Catholic Christians. We consider ourselves blessed to have such a school for our sons.
As I am anticipating my son's graduation from Gonzaga High School, I've spent much time reflecting on how the experiences of his past have affected who he is today; a smart, funny, kind, just and mature young man ready to take on the world. Of course, I have to say that his experience at St. Elizabeth school from K to 8 was probably the most important factor in his formation prior to high school both academically, spiritually, emotionally and socially. His experience as a student at St. E's (probably the best Catholic elementary school in the Washington DC archdiocese and which has the best principal) gave him the best foundation he needed to achieve in high school. Even today, 4 years after he's left St. E's, I meet his former teachers who always ask how he is and offer their continued prayers. As we hear often in the news today about the plight of our educational system around the country, I am always thankful that my son had the great gift of a Catholic education from St. Elizabeth school. Thank-you St. E's!
Both my kids have attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School since Kindergarten. The school provided, and continues to provide the caring and learning environment that my kids have come to love and enjoy. The current principal s leadership and involvement has been key to the success of the St. E s experience for my kids. Bullying is not tolerated at the school - and has never been an issue for both my kids (K-8). My kids have forged strong lasting relationships with so many classmates over the years, thanks to the positive and inclusive culture in the classrooms. We are proud and fortunate to part of the St. Elizabeth community!
We have been fortunate enough to be at St. Elizabeth's for over 10 years now. We have 3 boys, all very different, in both their academic and social styles. We have found that the teachers are very accomodating to the different ways of learning, if needed, and have pulled out the best in our boys. They are nuturing and communicative with us about any concerns they may have. The leadership demands respect from these children, which is a breath of fresh air these days. Most importantly, the teachers, principal and staff show our children how to walk in Christ's footsteps everyday. The children are held accountable for their actions, both academically and socially. The community that is at this school cannot be compared to any around. We truly feel like one big family. I cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience we have had here, and feel truly belssed to be a part of it.
We have been at St. Elizabeth's for the past 12 years. Two of our children have graduated and are now attending Georgetown Prep. Our daughter is currently attending St. Elizabeth's. Our boys at Georgetown Prep are doing very well which is a credit to the challenging academic education they received while attending St. Elizabeth's. They have fond memories of the their teachers and friendships during their time at St. Elizabeth's .The teachers have the support of their Principal and Vice Principal which results in a strong, academic curriculum. The faith based education at St. Elizabeth's encourages the students to participate in outreach in the community, promotes good values and kindness towards others. St. Elizabeth's is an excellent school which provides a strong foundation for the spiritual, social and academic well being of all their students!
We transferred to St. Elizabeth School two years ago and it was the best decision we have ever made. We were concerned that our 7th grade daughter would have a difficult time adjusting, but after the first week of school, you would have never known that she was "the new kid"...the students were exceptionally welcoming and the teachers incredibly supportive. She has thrived at St. Elizabeth's. The same is true for my other daughter who transferred in 3rd grade. Academically, based on my experience, I believe the school is one of the best in the area. It is because of the education that she has received at St. Elizabeth that my daughter is well prepared for high school. I am constantly in awe of their principal who truly loves his students. I was a chaperon on his trip to NYC with his 8th grade class and I witnessed first hand how much his students and teachers respect and admire him. He promotes a faith filled environment and even encourages the parents of the school to pray the rosary with him during "carpool pickup"! Overall, I can't say enough about St. Elizabeth's, my daughters are blossoming there.
We have 4 children at St. Elizabeths. We tranferred to the school 2 years ago from another school in the ADW. That was the best decision I have ever made for my children. Academically St. E's is very challenging and all of my children are thriving. The religious aspect is exceptional as well. It is a wonderful community of faith filled families, teachers and staff. The principal is extremely active in all aspects of the school. Carpool drop off, sporting events, and field trips. St. Elizabeths is well worth the sacrifice my husband and I make for our children to receive an amazing catholic education. I highly recommend St. Elizabeths if you are considering a Catholic School.
My children attended St. Elizabeth School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Not only was their experience a rewarding one they have gone on to continue to thrive in high school. I would absolutely recommend St. Elizabeth School to anyone if the leadership remains in place.
My two children went to St. Elizabeth School and had a great experience. My daughter was LD/ADHD and received the modifications and accommodations she needed. They worked with us in a positive manor, which led to great success. I would highly recommend this school.
We transferred to St. Elizabeth from a public school when our kids were in 4th and 6th grade. We opted to move them due to the classroom chaos, lack of respect for authority, and red tape involved with our local public school. We have never regretted the move! The principal and staff at St. Elizabeth's promote a faith-based environment of warmth, respect, and expectations of excellence. One of our children experienced some "new kid" issues but this was dealt with swiftly and strongly. We were quite surprised with the response and lack of tolerance. Sadly, bullying is everywhere despite what everyone's best efforts are put forth to educate and prevent it. What matters is the reaction by staff when the situation may arise. I am pleased to say we have not had problems since. The staff is amazing as is their fearless leader who gives his all to the kids. St. Elizabeth Catholic School has been a wonderful move for this family with zero regrets!!
