Beaver Run is a very excellent school. The Pre-K and Kindergarden staff are outstanding! Our current Principal is tough but this is a positive thing as most children have little to no male influence. He does not put up with nor will he allow 'his' teachers to put up with out of control children. While I do find that test scores are important it must be understood that this comes from the board of education not the personal views of our principal. I feel that my daughter is very safe and receiving a top notch education. Our music and art department are working as best they can with the budget they are given. Our PTA is working to help both departments outs to further enrich our child's experience. The PTA is involved and it is up to the parents to join and get invovled with the PTA.

The principal does not seem to be aware of any problems at the school.Whether they are academic, problems on the playground,or teachers concerns. It seems to me that everything is about numbers and how to get more funding.Teachers are left on their own with their own resources to do plans implemented by the administration.

I have two children at Beaver Run this year attending pre-k and Kindergarten. Last year, my children attended Wicomico Day School and I am absolutely thrilled with how great the education is at Beaver Run. I absolutely love my kids teachers! I like the principle, but the office staff is incredibly mean. As for the discipline, both of my children are continuously disciplined for being 'normal kids' (as their teachers say.) I have heard Beaver Run is the best school in Wicomico County. I would agree. At WDS, the class sizes were a maximum of 12. At BR, there's 22. I never expected my daughter to learn anything, but she's already reading books. There is 'tension' at any place of employment, even if it is a school. Personally, I think their special ed teachers are great!

I have 2 children in Beaver Run this year. I would not want them anywhere else. I have had very positive experiences with everyone at Beaver Run. I had a medical concern about one of my children this year and the principal and teachers were VERY supportive. I have 4 children, so I have been involved with several schools in this county. I have been most impressed with the staff at this school. I do have to mention that the parental involvement could be much better, but is that the staffs fault?

My son is currently enrolled in the Pre-K program. We have an IEP and recieve many services from Beaver Run. Although we got off to a rocky start, I have found the teachers, therapists and staff to be very helpful and and understanding.

Administrators micromanage the teachers, creating a great tension with staff. Teachers also not backed in their efforts to discipline children. The teachers here are hard-working and motivated to help the students, but are hamstrung by rote memorization and sight word demands; required to 'teach the tests'. Ridiculous that there are not closed hallways, but 'breezeways' that expose children to inclement weather anytime they venture out of the classroom. A few interested parents are overwhelmed with work (PTA) by 'babysitting'-oriented parents. PTA functions have poor attendance overall. This laissez-faire parental attitude is confirmed by the attitudes of their children. Kindergartners use language you would not believe! The office often has children present for disciplinary reasons. Also, if you have special-needs children, please take be an advocate for your child. This school is among the poorest in Wicomico County, in my opinion.

This school has some great teachers, however, the administration is so poor that the teachers are limited in how effective they can be. It is a terrible school for children with special education needs.

I have to disagree with the former review. I think that they have some of the best teachers in that school. If there is a problem, it is quick to be resolved. As far as being strict, they are to the point...far better to keep control than some other schools in Wicomico County where the children can run an adult over like a steam roller...I would recommend this school to anyone who was moving in to the area.
