I am pulling my child out and sending her to Mardela Middle and High School. This school is failing the students, and it seems like the central office just has no idea what to do. The teachers all seem like they want to give up, and it's no wonder given all of the problems in this place. If even half of what my daughter is telling me is true about discipline, then this place is nothing more than a juvenile holding facility. the Principal is nowhere to be seen, and Mr. Charlton (the only administrator trying to do anything) just can't do it all. I heard he is going to be a supervisor, and if that is true, the whole place will collapse when he goes. Mr. Emmert 9 a teacher there) is trying his best too, and I think he gives 110%, but he is only one of a handful of teachers that are trying to teach these kids.Get your kids out of there!

The students here seem to have no parents and more teaches who do not care than ones who do. Pregnancies -sexual activity are daily aspects of the lives of these children. My daughter has become withdrawn since attending this school with so many children who are more than a little rough around the edges. She has made a decision not to do her class work and just sit with her head down. I was never notified until I made the effort to go in and see what was happing. I was informed that her choice not to participate or do work was a daily occurrence. No discipline action was taken when she decided not to do the work even after I reached out for them. I will not name names but many of the teachers there clearly have the attitude that they only need to show up, pass out work, and hope for the best. They are not proactive in teaching! I have saved e-mails from several of the teachers who clearly state my daughter has chosen not to do her work, and they are not going to do any just allow her to continue to sit with her head down. I guess, as long as she is not disrupting them they will not act. It disgusts me that we pay these types of teaches anything more than a babysitters salary.

A child in the special program with an average no greater than 20% out of a hundred, falling asleep in class almost everyday, and refusing to participate on 90% percent of the activities, in my opinion, and technically should have failed and repeated the grade. What did this school do? Wow, great idea, pass him to the next grade. At that rate, he'll be in HS, and have the skills and knowledge of a 5th grader...

My son was in the special ed program at this school and I can't say very many positive things about it. The teachers were disrespectful of his specialized diet restrictions and he regularly had major injuries while under their "supervision". We fought the teachers and administration for 3 years, and it wasn't until we threatened legal action for negligence that the Board of Education finally got involved. I'm sure it's a decent school for "normal" kids, but if you have a disabled child, you might want to look elsewhere.

Wi Middle is an awesome school. I am really sad to leave without finishing the last school year. The GATE program is really nice. The teachers are great; they are always there for you. Coming out from Wicomico County, I've move to one of the best counties in va. Enrolling to all honors classes, I've realized that the GATE teachers at Wi Middle pushed us ahead of everyone else. I bet everyone that the class that I came from could not be defeated by anyone else. (Thanks to the teachers) I strongly recommend Wi Middle's GATE program. We are the best, and you will be come one of the best! :) Thanks Wi Middle!
