My daughter went to this school from 1st grade through 4th grade, then we had to move. This school was the best the staff and parents were always very involved. The children had alot of respect for each other and them selves. I wish every school was like this. Keep up the great work. We miss you!
Mrs. Green is a WONDERFUL Principal, she knows every child by their name and she keeps in touch as to what is going on in each of their lives. She visits all the classrooms everyday and listens to what each child has to say . She is never too busy to listen to a concerned parent and will even lend her shoulder for you to cry on and offer help in anyway. The staff has been wonderful well the ones I have dealt with so far. I am looking forward to being a PROUD QES PARENT for years to come !! Ms Green and all the staff and PTA you are doing EXCELLENT!!!
I've been an active parent at QES for over 16 years. This will be my last year at Quarterfield and there has been a lot of change over those years. Some good and some bad but the School and Staff has always triumphed. I don't care for Ms. Grenn as a principal and think that she is not very good at PR but she does seem to have the childrens best interests in mind. I could not help but notice that volunteers and school functions have gone down a lot over the last 2 or so years. Not assuming it is for one reason or another but it is sad to see. I will be sad to leave but glad at the same time.
Yes, the staff will outlast Ms. Green, as she is a phenomenal leader who is destined for greatness! She has made history as Quarterfield's first Af. Am. Principal, since it's opening in 1969, and this is only the beginning of a very long, prosperous, successful and marvelous career! Ms. Green, continue to do your job and demonstrate your passion; you are doing many things right, that's why they're talking about you. Thank you for bringing about NECESSARY changes for the sake of our children! Your words, actions and countless number of hours that you work 6-7 days/week, show that it s not about you, but you are FOR CHILDREN!
I believe that the school's leadership needs a complete overhaul. Ms. Green is very uprofessional and unpredictable. She also seems to intimidate her staff. Often times the school seems to be in a chaotic state. I believe that the staff tries very hard but the principal needs to learn the importance of teamwork and how to make the kids education a priority and not her ego.
I would like to applaud Ms. Green and the faculty of Quarterfield Elem. Ms. Green is the new principle and has proven herself as well deserved. She is very dedicated and engaged in the kids everyday lives. When we moved there last year, 1 of my kids had difficulty reading. They were not reading at the grade level and had been going to tutoring for over a year. One year at Quarterfield and they are now reading and writing their own stories and has more confidence than ever. The faculty members there are the perfect example of a school that cares about their students not just TEST SCORES. We had to move away this summer, but I wanted to make sure that all knew how wonderful the principle and staff were. I wish the ratings could go higher because I would rate them as a perfect 10. Job well done!!
I have to commend Ms. Green, the principal of Q.E.S. for her committment and hard work on behalf of the children of our area. I have never known a better principal. Do you know that everyday she is out there for our children...overseeing every single aspect of their safety and education. My girl was in the first grade in her school this year and I was awed by how much she learned, how devoted the principal is to the children and how safe and happy I felt sending my child there. Ms Green, I applaud you! Ms Harding, you are a joy and a miracle worker too and I thank you with all my heart for being there for the children and giving them such a great start in their education! You not only teach them the curriculum but you teach them how to be better people. Thank you all!
I hold the QES faculty in high esteem and am awed daily by the level of commitment of everyone involved in touching the lives of children to promote optimal student success. Ms. Green has a wonderful way of bringing out the best in her staff by celebrating what is right which diminishes challenges. I feel honored to be part of QES staff.
I have to disagree with the comment about Back-to-School Night being 'sad.' This was the first year, in a very long time, that I have had so many interested, excited and motivated parents to visit my classroom, learn about the curriculum and seek volunteer opportunities. Also, I don't believe that a parent should speak on the staff's behalf and comment about whether we are or are not a happy staff. We are a happy staff. We embrace and accept the much needed change and welcome the professionalism that must be restored to our school. We are headed in the right direction. It's great to know that we are back on track, for the children's sake!
Quarterfield has always been a wonderful school. Many things have changed the last year. It seems like many of the family functions that I attended with my kids have stopped all together. I know they still have functions outside the school, but they cost alot to attend. My children always looked forward to the Octoberfest and Halloween Sock Hop. Where else could you take your family for 2-3 hours of dancing and fun & have dinner for under $10.00. We loved it and looked forward to it every year. The school now seems to be focused more on the big money funtions and not the family functions that are affordable for all. I know that my kids get a good education at Quarterfield, but it seems they have lost a lot of there affordable after school activities that we looked so forward to.
QES is off to a great start this year! Parents, students and staff have welcomed the new year with positive, caring attitudes. I am looking forward to seeing a lot of growth and success for our entire QES family.
If Back To School Night shows the parent participation then it has decreased significantly in the 5 years that my children have been attending. It use to be standing room only and this year there were rows of seats empty. It was a sad sight. What is even sadder, is when there is conflict in a school, no matter what causes it, the children are the ones that suffer. Forget about staff, forget about parents - but remember the kids. Bottom line, If you chase away the parents and have an unhappy staff - the ones that suffer the most are the children. Those 'desperate housewives' have put in thousands of hours of volunteer time for QES children in the past years. Volunteering at events, making copies, cutting out pictures, on reading clubs and so much more. Can you say the same?
The parent participation has not decreased. Actually, it is wonderful to see more families, of different ethnicities, represented at the school. Gone are the days of the same CLIQUE of people, (desperate housewives) running the school. It's time to let the professionals do their job at the school, and as parents, we need to do our jobs at home. There is not too much change at one time--there's too little embracing of change. I would advise that we stay focused on the children, not the adults. And by the way, all of the persons at the school are committed, dedicated and love the children. All should be thanked and appreciated, not just the teachers. It takes more than teachers to lead a school.
If ignorant people would accept new and different people, then they would realize that Quarterfield is not about Ms. Green, the staff, parents or any adults; It's about the children! Quarterfield has never had a principal like Ms. Green who walks students home, serve lunch in the cafeteria, visit classrooms everyday, embrace children and call them by name, conduct home visits, work 6-7 days/week and remain focused on the children. If the school is deteriorating it's because people who have been there for years, who love mediocrity and the status quo, are upset about and afraid of change and a strong leader who will not be manipulated or controlled. Wake up! It's 2008 and some school staff, parents and community members (adults) need to live in the present, prepare for the future and stop dwelling in the past.
Quarterfield Elementry is a great school. Ms. Green the principal is great as well. Parents that state she is out of touch with her staff and students just don't like change.
I agree that Mrs.Green is out of touch with the staff and students, my children have attended the school for several years and the teachers are wonderful especially Ms.Perry, I would recomend her as a class room teacher for all children. If your child has an IEP the special needs teacher is also wonderfuland goes above and beyond, Mrs.Clark. Mrs. green should embrace her staffa and children.
The School has a new administration and is rapidly deteriorating. The principal, Ms. Green, is out of touch with her students and her staff and it shows. Quarterfield was a great school but has lost it's heart.
My child attended Kindergarten at this school and I was pleased. Ms. Miller/Mrs. Brendel are wonderful. Very friendly staff. Lots of activities and good use of the website.
