My son will be starting 7th grade in the fall of 2010. To our pleasant surprise, his elementary school principal accepted the position as principal at Argyle. And has served as a very strong leader amongst his staff members. Overall, I am very pleased with the curriculum and the staff.
This is my second review. My children have been enrolled now for 2 years. I can't tell you how much they have improved. All of their teachers have been great and the communication I receive has always been timely and helpful. The only thing I have to say in way of a negative, would be some of the students appear (no matter how the teachers and principal try to address) are determined to be under achievers and disrupt the learning process of others. Although my kids have been lucky enough to avoid these kids, you can look and see that others have not been so lucky. All in all, I would again highly recommend this school.
I am a student at Argyle, and I do not recommend this school. The environment is not friendly at most times. Students often break the rules and often do not have a punishment. There are some educators of the school that are unhelpful and unpleasant.
I love argyle because you will always find perfect friends through the great variety of extra curricular activities and awesome classes. I like the theme of tech and all the teachers somehow relate to you
My child go's to this school and in elementary got C's D's and E's but now is getting A's and B's is eligible and get honor roll because the teachers here work with the student to get them to be the best they can be.
very good school, students are greatt The death of Damaro though was painful the school cannot be 5 stars becasue of the terrible area
YOU MUST SEE THE SCHOOL TO BELIEVE IT! This is a one-of-a kind technology school in Montgomery County. I am impressed with most teachers; they are knowledgeable (about their subjects as well as use the latest smart board & other technology.)The principal is a very present, yet not intimidating figure at the school along with otehr admin staff.I never wait long for a return email/phone call. The teachers and counselors KNOW my daughter and will stay after (as with all students) to help her. Sure, you have will always have a few that aren't stellar teachers, but the experience that she's had at the school has been a positive one. MY DAUGHTER LOVES IT. Middle school is a big adjustment for all students. Some have never had to organize a notebook or juggle 8 classes. The orientations/summer camp before 6th grade help the anxiety. Just be there for your kid.
Fighting is a bit of a problem. But not as bad as other schools. Many high school credits can be earned in this school. And there are many technology classes that are advanced and cannot be taken on other middle schools until the student goes to high school. Overall it's a good school.
The signature course for the technology magnet is a huge disappointment. I don't know whether it's the curriculum, the teacher or both, but it is essentially a trivial treatment of computer skills--essentially a waste of time.
What a difference a few years make. This school has become a very effective school, when it use to be one of the worse in the County. Excellent administration, and staff and a new rigorous program based on technology. Any student going to this school has a chance to really move forward in their educational pursuits. However, there are still problems with the incoming student population, in that many do not have motivation to educate themselves beyond their daily needs.
