My daughter graduated last May and my son is a current student. The MYP (10th grade) is a wonderful opportunity for all students to pursue a project they've been considering for years but won't get around to without a little nudge from adults. The teachers are very supportive and the new principal rocks! The students are very talented (don't miss the Heritage Festival and Spring Art show) and the instrumental music program is great! The IB diploma program helped my daughter earn two scholarships and prepared her well for graduate school! (She's just in her first year of college, but I'm serious.) The IT program is unequaled in MCPS. This is a great school for students who are college-bound, and the internship program is great for students who want to enter the workforce.

Okay so i went to Springbrook for my first two years in high school and i loved it ! granite the school may be focused aroung sports but that not all it has to offer. the teachers are great and they students at that school are very friendly. i loved going to springbrook because i feel i was able to go to school and not a jungle of drama filled teenagers. springbrook will be able to take you to higher levels as a student; and parents you will be glad that you sent your child. when i went ther ei was a cheerleader and that helped my experience be 10X better . i reccomend springbrook over ANY high schoo in Mo-county. iloved it and imiss it dearly. GO SHS ! (thats a cheer btw)

Don't be fooled by all these fake reviews. Springbrook was the worst high school i ever went to (and I went to a few). If your not a big jock athlete you will hate it here. The whole school revolves around the football and basketball team. All the students act EXACTLY the same. This school is filled with cliques. The teachers and students are unfriendly towards anyone who doesn't play sports. The environment is completely a jock school. HATE IT!

Okay, this school is probably the best high school in the county. Everybody here loves it here, and the people are so down to earth. And from what I hear from all the people who transfered out of other schools, (mainly Blake), to come here, this school is better. They say that over there everything at Blake gets old after a while and people really need to grow up there. I am a Sophomore at this school, and after being separated from my old friends in middle school, most of them who went to Blake came back this year, which made this year even better, and they hated it at Blake. So far they absolutely love it here, and I love it here to. It's the best.

I love Springbrook High School so much! It's a very fun, social school and the relationships between people here are like the best. This school has a lot to offer, including the best classmates, teachers, activities, etc. This school has everything, and I am happy to go to this school. This school is a place to have a good time and there is a lot to do. I think of the 3 NEC schools in the county, this one is the best, because year after year a lot of people transfer out of the other two schools and end up here, and end up staying here, while hardly anyone leaves here. This school is the best, and my classmates are awesome, and I think Springbrook is the funnest place ever, and that's a lot considering it's a school.

I am a Junior at this school, but it's my first year here after being at Blake High School for two years, and I must say I love it here! It is so much better than Blake (though im not trying to insult my old school, it's the truth) and I think i made the right choice getting out of Blake and coming here. Currently, there is a lot going on here and everybody here is really close to one another, unlike my old school where people only hung out with the group they've always been with, and the teachers here are amazing. They really prepare you for college and for the work life, which is really good, and the students here are the coolest. I absolutely love it here! If i could do it all over again, I would've gone here rather than blake. Sorry Bengals, go Blue Devils!!

I am a freshman at this school, and i must say the experience has been really amazing. The students here rock, and we are all cool with each other. The staff is great and very helpful. You will seriously find some of the coolest teachers in this school. Also, there are a lot of activities here which makes it very easy to get involved in the school. And plus the diversity is amazing. My high school life so far has been really fun and exiting, and i wouldn't transfer at all.

I have been to many schools that are considered 'diverse', but Springbrook is a truly diverse community. The students, all from different ethnicities and religions, are seen interacting with each other, whereas in many other 'diverse' schools, cliques are developed to prevent this diverse exchange. From this diversity, one is able to have more insight on different backgrounds and cultures, in return having appreciation for it, which I believe is going to be a vital skill needed in life. I have never had so many teachers who are so dedicated to their job with their willing to not only find ways that will help me learn better, but the input of hours before and after school to help me understand the information. After coming to Springbrook, my view on education completely changed. The school provides AP courses and IB programs guaranteed to help with success in college. I strongly recommend Springbrook.

My son is currently enrolled in Springbrook and I have a daughter that will attend in the fall. I am very pleased with the academic side and the athletic side of the school. My son came to Springbrook a average student but once he got into the school and started working his GPA is above a 3.0 I can only thank the teachers and coaches for this dramatic change in him. Springbrook rocks.

Both my children attended Springbrook, where I believe they received an excellent education. Both of them took mostly AP and IB classes, and they read and learned college-level material. The diversity has prepared them for adult life with all sorts of people. Mr. Durso (principal) does a great job in a challenging environment. My daughter had a stupid history teacher and the staff worked with us to make a teacher change. Her history grade went from a C to an A after the change. The parental support and school spirit is awesome ... the after-prom party rocks!

Springbrook is a great school. The principal and the staff are excellent and dedicated to all the students. The school brings great diversity. Something you dont see very often at high schools. The principal is always on top of everything and the safety rate is great. As a student, I feel completely safe in this school. We have a great heritage show program, check mic,MSA dinner, karaoke nights, and everything. Springbrook's students are excellent. Together we have donated over 2000 dollars when a natural disaster occurs. Springbrook also has a hall of nation, which every flag is represented in our school of our students. Springbrook gives discipline. Each school has its set of problems, and I believe the principal and staff handle these issues appropriatly. Not only does Springbrook provide the IB program, it also provides a huge variety of courses. You can get a great experience from this school.

Overall Springbrook is a good school. The Principal has a lot to deal with in terms of addressing a wide range of cultures, discipline and managing a huge staff. I was dissapointed with the quality of a handfull of the teachers, and in the Principals ability to deal with their poor performance. I was stunned to realize that my kids didn't want to be in a single mainstream class because of discipline problems - they opted for Honors or AP classes where possible. My kids have graudated, are attending college and are doing quite well. The preparation they received at Springbrook was adequate. There are some outstanding and dedicated teachers, coaches and other staff at this school. It is unfortunate that the few bad teachers, a high theft rate at the school and the Principals one size fits all method of discipline detract from what could really be a wonderful experience.

I'm a senior at Springbrook. The IB program is challenging but so is are the AP classes. I have three AP classes and two Honors classes this year, they really keep me busy. One of the greatest things about this school is the diversity, everyone pretty much gets along and we have a lot of school spirit. I'm going to miss the school next year.

My son is currently a senior at Springbrook. I think it is a good school, but we are a little disappointed by the quality of instruction in some classes. While the IB program is excellent, if you are not in it, the other classes are not as challenging.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Maryland used the Maryland High School Assessments (HSA) to test students in English 2, Algebra, and Biology upon completion of each course. The HSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maryland. Students are required to pass the tests in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
