Average- to above-average students attend Friendship for proven, innovative, multi-sensory instruction based on the Orton-Gillingham approach. The school provides daily one-to-one tutoring and a comprehensive curriculum covering all core academic subjects as well as art, music, drama, physical education and computer literacy. A research-based Study Skills program, teaching students organization, time-management, and test-prep, is integrated into all academic subjects.
Friendship's three-to-one student/teacher ratio means every child at the school is truly known and celebrated. Enrollment at Friendship will not exceed 100 students to preserve the school's philosophy of ensuring a nurturing social and academic environment. Students at Friendship know one another, and know they are valued members of the school community.
Friendship's new, 20,000-square-foot facility was designed specifically to advance the school's mission of providing the highest level of individualized instruction for every student. With light-filled classrooms, a library, gymnasium and drama stage, the building provides a rich environment for learning and growing. On campus is Friendship School's teacher-training partner, the Margaret Byrd Rawson Institute, where time-tested teaching fundamentals are shared and teachers have continuous access to state-of-the-art professional development.
