After seeing the new principal in action I have to say....what a disappointment. It seems as if she's on a huge power trip. I am truly concerned for this school. Having just started here last school year I really had higher expectations. The teachers and staff are wonderful but if I had to work under this principal I'd ask to be transferred. She did not come with a good reputation and I'm wondering how she got hired. She has canceled long standing events and does not show any compassion for those hurting and in need (staff and parents). My children both say she is grumpy and speaks harshly to them.
First off, the staff and teachers are excellent, I couldn't ask for a more welcoming environment for my children. It is by far, the teachers that make a school what it is. They are both loving and kind and have the best interests of the children at heart! The I only reason I do not give a 5 star rating is that the principal is the opposite, I have witnessed, as have many children, her rather abrasive attitude toward children, parents and staff. I feel this to be very unprofessional in an elementary environment. She seems to be unconcerned with the best interests of the school itself, this should be a forefront of her career. Early education is the foundation that these kids build upon, yet with a leader who is barely present at best, with an uncouth presence, they may not be encouraged at all. Thank god EES has an excellent teaching staff. In the 4 years my children have attended, we have had nothing but forthright, caring and competent teachers. They truly strive for each and every child to succeed. I can only hope they choose to endure this unfortunate appointment of principal. This being her second year, I am dissapointed in her efforts.
We are so disappointed in the new principal. She has no interest in the students or parents. Now I understand why the teachers and parents at her old school where so excited when she left. She is clearly a principal just for the power trip. I am so worried about the future of this school. Thank goodness all of my son's teachers have been excellent so far. The principal needs to know that if something is not broken, than please don't fix it!
The curriculum is great, very caring teachers. The teachers never show favorites, and you learn a lot. Physical Education is one of the funnest things you can do and on "Field Day" you can dunk teachers, perform dances, and play lots of fun games. The only bad thing about it is that sometimes the female students can have cliques, and exclude people a lot. If somebody has broken an ankle they will declare that you're "faking" it, and they can make it miserable. I guess it all depends on the student. But other then that the education is acceptable.
We have had nothing but positive experiences with our daughter in Kindergarten at Eldersburg Elementary. Issues within the classroom with another student were dealt with efficiently and effectively. All the 'specials' teachers & support staff are well-loved by students and active participants in the school community. The principal Mr. Eisenklam and Asst Principal Ms. Laffer are involved with the students and are very visible. Fantastic school!!!
Eldersburg Elem. is a great school. My husband and I love the friendly environment. We have been very impressed with the new Principal Mr. Eisenklam. We had been concerned with him being young but he has proven us wrong. His energy, enthusiasm and friendliness has brought new life into the building. The communication is great. The school frequently uses email updates and the new website is one of the best in the county.
