As a parent of a student at Liberty High School I have been completely impressed with the teachers at Liberty High School. In our three years here, we've encountered many teachers that have gone above and beyond. It has been a pleasant surprise to encounter teachers who truly are excited about their subjects and want to inspire their students to learn. The school is older, but the school spirit and community support more than make up for an older building. The Principal is young and somewhat arrogant, but he is currently on leave and hopefully on his way to another school.

I recently graduated from Liberty High School and I had a great experience, after my freshman year. In the beginning it was a little rough, but from there on it was great. There are many organizations to get invovled in such as sports, arts, sga, nhs, and there is even a robotics team. The only one in the county. There are some great teachers for math and sciences, especially. Also, there is a wide variety of ap classes and some elective classes. My favorites was newspaper production (so fun!) Also, there are many different students with different socio-economic backgrounds. Liberty, however, is known for having students with a wealthier background and are republican just like most of the Carroll County area. My only problem with Liberty is that the administration (not teachers) care more about the reputation of the school than of the student. Have a tough skin with them!

As a parent of three children who have either graduated from Liberty High School, or are currently enrolled at Liberty, I have seen Liberty progress over several years and several administrations. The last two administrators have been conscientious and extremely organized. They set high standards for students and teachers. The population of students is above-average in talent and work-ethic. There is an atmosphere of high expectations (all students are expected to continue their education after graduating) and caring relationships. One of my concerns about the school system, however, is that the budget is so tight that class sizes are very large, thus individual attention during the school day is lacking. Teachers are very hardworking, but seem stressed to the breaking point.

LHS is certainly a school of which Maryland should be proud. Located in a county where our budget is limited, at best, Liberty excels in all areas. From extracurricular offerings like Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Drama, Clubs, etc to Freshman, JV and Varsity sports, no student should have trouble finding a group in which to participate. Classes are offered for all academic levels of students. Faculty supports the kids and each other, and Administration is open to suggestions and willing to help and advise whenever asked. Communication between community and LHS is easily accessible and response time is short. So glad my home is located in this school district! GO LIONS!

While the principal seems unable to take advice or suggestions from anyone who doesn't decide how much money he makes, most of the teachers do their utmost to keep kids both interested and educated. A great atmosphere of friendliness and academia is only slightly marred by the ineptitude of the administration.

I'm very pleased and satisfied with Liberty High School. My first child's freshman year was great and, much to our delight, 10th grade seems to be going even better. The classes are challenging and the environment seems safe and healthy (in many ways). Parent-teacher comm is frequent and meaningful. I really have no compalinnts alt all. Go linos!

The new principal has really done a great job of changing the climate of this school. Student achievement and safety take priority and involvement in all types of activities is really emphasized. The principal acts on concerns in a timely fashion and works with all parties to find a mutually agreeable solution. Academics are stressed and everyone's opinions are considered in the decision making process. Liberty is a great school and I would prefer to have my child there over neighboring high schools without hesitiation.

Great. Students are very smart and the lesson has a lot of thinking. There's a lot of enthusiasm in classes even though some kids don't do their homework, they still raise their hands in class. Students are very kind and helpful. The academic programs are quite not hard. There's Chorus for music and there's Art class and PE. Many kids in the sport teams practice after school everyday for hours. Parents come to school on the orientation day and to sign in if their kids are late for school in the morning.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Maryland used the Maryland High School Assessments (HSA) to test students in English 2, Algebra, and Biology upon completion of each course. The HSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maryland. Beginning with the class of 2009, students are required to pass the tests in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
