My children attended a few years ago. The teachers were excellent and worked very hard. I do wish that Carroll County, as a school system, had a more developed GT program that started in elementary school, as Howard County does. The once-a-week GT program included some fun and challenging lessons, but if Carroll County is going to be competitive we need GT math starting in fourth grade. I agree that the front office staff is unfriendly. Since they're the first ones to greet people, I think friendliness should be in the job description!

I have two children who have attended Piney since Kindergarten and while the school has been academically superior to many their attitude toward my family has been an absolute turn off. We have endured threats of suspension and other severe disciplinary action for minor infractions that most kids are guilty of. While I do feel that some of the staff has taken interest in my kids' success, most of the time the staff treats us like we are misfits. I am a single parent and have often felt looked down on. I've also had several moments when I've felt that some employees in the front office are very condescending and judgemental, often making me and other parents feel that we are intruding on them just by being there. I would only recommend Piney to families whose kids are uncommonly well behaved and don't lack special attention.

Piney Ridge is an awesome school! Our daughter is in 2nd grade and absolutely loves it. Her teachers have been very involved in her success and have taken extra time and effort to help her in areas that she needed help in. They are very open to parent communication and involvement. We have a new principal this year and she is very involved and approachable for both parents and students alike. The PTA is very active and there is always something going on! Our only complaint is that the campus is small and while the school is only slightly over crowded (not bad in today's society) parking is very limited for special days. And that really has nothing to do with the quality of education! Wouldn't trade it for any other school in the county--or the state for that matter!

My girl is in the 5th grade. She does not want to leave this school at all! For all new children I would choose this school. It's kid friendly! But I no they don't like the school lunch because it's to short. They teach at great levels. Piney Ridge is a great place to learn!

Piney Ridge is a wonderful school. My son is now in second grade and he is happy and thriving in his learning. This school has some of the caring and in tuned teachers I have ever seen.
