I left this place in middle school because my parents did not want my credits to get ruined if I went to public high-school. This school has continuously disappointed my parents with the treatment and negotiable ways with others. I am so happy I left, now others are leaving too, and I'm happy for them. Good luck to the graduating class of 3 people. Not that thats bad, but a couple of years ago there where actually a good amount of students there, The sports team is playing schools out of there division. Riverdale Baptist, is very good! and they shouldn't be playing a division 3 school. but thats whatever, Just don't send your child there!
This school's all claims and nothing to back them up. It is almost funny that they offer an alternative to the 'overcrowded' public school system when they have to combine grades together to save space in their undersized school building. Their is no parental involvement whatsoever. They lose most of their teachers about every other year for obvious reasons. Some of the teachers there aren't even qualified. There are no art or music courses. The pastor/principal is hardly ever around to be a principal. They only have 9 classrooms in the whole building but are trying to have 12 grades. The school was only meant to be a K-8 school but they decided to add 4 more grades probably so they wouldn't lose the students they had. The sports programs are mediocre at best with practice cancellations common. I would actually recommend the public school system over this 'school'.
I've been attending this school for about three years now, and each year the satisfaction in this school drops. I am currently in the 11th grade and have one more year to go. Each year, the pastor (Ron Harris) makes promises that are never accomplished which is very disturbing to me because of the fact that this is year is my junior year. This will be my last year in attending this school and i erg that you should not send your son and/or daughter to this school at all!
My child is a fifth year student at WCS. We have been extremely happy with all aspects of the school. Contrary to other reviews, we have felt that our child has received an excellent academic education and that the school doesn't lack in any areas that any private school wouldn't. They do have a full computer lab with dozens of working computers. They also have a library and a full size gym. All teachers, to my knowledge have degrees and seem to be very competent. Their are many activities including soccer (indoor and outdoor), basketball, and volleyball to name a few. They can only have activites for the amount of interest in them. The Pastor who is also the principal is loving and caring to each and every student!
My daughter attended for the 9th gr when we put her in other school she has to repeat the grade becasue they are not accredited as they claim to be. She had all a b and 2 c's and still has to repeat. She was given a county test and failed 3 of 5. They academic program is very bad and they dont learn much. The only way you can be involed as a parent is if you belong to thier church. They do have sports (co-ed) no music or art classes. Overall my family is very unhappy with this school. They say and put in writing that they are accredited by the md board of education but they are not as we found out. They will give no reason why they say this.
The academic program is rigorous, but there is nothing available for children with learning or emotional issues. If your child is highly able and very self-disciplined than this is the school for you. If your child is average or has special needs, their needs will not be met here. The principal is absent most of the time and the facilities are horrible. The students sit in adult size metal folding chairs all day. There are no computers available. There is no art or music program. There is no P.E.available for primary age children You pay a book and materials fee and the teahcers must make Xerox copies of pages because there were not enough work books available for primary age children. Many of the teadhers are not certified and some do not even have a Bachelor's degree. Although the school does not advertise this fact. Its really a ripoff.
Waldorf Christian School has been positive for my child! It has provided us with a safe and sound education, in a tight-knit Christian setting. The classroom sizes are small enough for each child to receive adequate attention. The children gain valuable knowledge in the core academic areas (like Reading, Spelling, Math, Science, and Social Studies), while also gaining knowledge about Jesus Christ in Bible Class. There are sufficient extra curricular activities at the school and more added each year! In response to some of the previous negative comments and feedback, each parent has a right to their opinion but we must be realistic and know that no school is perfect. My perception is that Waldorf Christian continues to grow and enhance its school programs. In the meantime, my child is safe and continues to learn at an appropriate rate! As a parent, I know that I must stay involved!
I have never been more disappointed in a school before. When one thinks of a Christian school an environment of acceptance and love is pictured. Unfortunately, Waldorf Christian Academy is the exact opposite. There is so much favoritism with a few of the students that the others feel incredibly left out. There is no academic challenge at this school. There is no foreign language, no music curriculum, and even the Bible portion of the program is lacking at best. I would never recommend this school to anyone. It just doesn't have what it takes to prepare children for high school or college.
I am very pleased with this school my child always comes home happy and ready to go back the next day. The teachers are nice, loving and open minded. I love the pastor and his wife they are good people and have 2 wonderful young christiaain men has their son. For any one who does know about this school trust me if you want your child to have a good christian education and fellowship chose this school. Go Hawks!
This our first year at WCA and we love it. My daughter is in 3rd grade and my son will be starting in the pre-K program next year. We removed our daughter from public school due to over-crowding. They have a wonderful Christmas program that is part of their music grade. They have a PE program, basketball, cheerleading and soccer teams. the principal has a great familiarity with the kids. All of the teachers are veterans and have the proper degrees and experience. The teachings are based on Abeka learning and challenges the students. It's a small, developing school. I think Pastor and Mrs Harris and New Hope Church should be commended for the amount of love and dedication they have provided to the children and the school.
