I must say that we have been nothing but pleased with the education our children are receiving at West!! A school is only as good as the Teachers, Administration and staff! With a new administration in place, West is better than EVER!! They are on the right track with getting our students back to focusing on what is important....not socializing or being silly in class but applying oneself to be the best student they can possibly be.. New disciplinary measures that have been put into place are working!! Both teachers and the administration are now working TOGETHER to make the middle school experience a safe and bully free place to learn! This administration did NOT have an easy start...there have been alot of hurdles that as a parent I have witnessed myself but their means and methods are catching on and it is making a big difference in the lives of these kids!! I find each and every one one of West's employees to be exemplary with one goal in mind...to assure that every child leaving those halls are prepared with all the skills needed to be great high school students!! My only complaint is the lack of parent involvement at West!! However the core volunteers make it happen!

The principal and her staff are not friendly at all! She has her own agenda and could care less about parents and students. As far as the rest of the teachers go, they do not teach. They send home tons of homework so that we the parents can do all the teaching. There seems to be little to no instruction that goes on in the classrooms. I think they show the kids how to do the easy stuff and let the parents try to figure out the hard stuff. I am spending about 4 hours a night teaching my child what should be taught in the classrooms at this school. Why are we paying for this as taxpayers? If you are going to have a child at this school, be prepared to do all the teaching!

Though the teachers work hard for my child I can see that the administration does not. Students in trouble are not reprimanded by the principal however the Asst Principal I heard boisterously yelling at a student as I walked in from the lobby and he was quite far from me. Often the principal turns around conversations avoiding the issues you are trying to discuss and the Asst Principal allows parents to verbally belittle teachers in front of students. I will be estatic the day my child is done with this school.

Although my 7th grade daughter has no problems at the school, I am disapppointed with the amount of time that is spent watching movies, and going on field trips. I were think that there are more important things to concetrate on. Also, I found that children get repremanded for forgetting a book sock, but no for fighting. Priorities there need to be re-examined!

Great middle school. Our daughter had a difficult time in elementary school, but things turned around when she got here!
