After transferring to this school, As a parent I was quite pleased. This school is in a Rural Community, yes, but in a safe and well cared for environment. This is not a inner city school. Mr. Winters was very encouraging for my son to start strings in Fifth Grade. The teachers really encourage independence but include the parents in being informed. Our family was very pleased with this school and would have stayed here if we could have. Great PTA activities. Not too little and not too much breathing down your neck for money. I do want to praise the school in regards to observing Veterans Day with local American Legion coming. This is something that tends to go unnoticed but not here!

All of our children have attended this school from K to the present. Our oldest has been through fifth grade. We have others in other grades. The art program is wonderful. The music program is pretty good too. Those who point out the lack of diversity in this area need to remember that it is drawing from primarily rural area. You will not find inner city diversity here. Sorry. They do try to bring that culture to the kids where they can however. The PTA is active and helpful. The school facilities are in reasonable condition. There are problems with county bureaucracy, but that's to be expected. The school teachers are with very few exceptions likable and helpful. The Anti-bullying campaign is flaccid and hopeless, but then I don't put much stock in that sort of thing anyway. In general, our kids have been doing well and our oldest is doing quite well in sixth grade. What more can we say?

There is no unity among parents teachers and administration. Curriculum is outdated and poorly excuted. Art and music teacher are the only highlights of this school. Backwoods mentality no cultural sensitivity...many children in need of services, they wait until it's too late. I do not recommend cominghere if ur child has any special needs minor and major. This school will work for u if ur child loves horses.athletics and is caucasian

We are coming to Lisbon from another Maryland County where the schools are HORRIBLE. What a delightful change Lisbon has been for our family and our two boys (2nd and 5th grades). My mouth sometimes hangs open at the difference we are experiencing. Ms. Diggs, the principal, has gone out of her way to communicate with us about everything from special needs for one of my boys to busing issues. All the teachers, admin, nursing and even custodial staff are just wonderful. We have experienced great communication and teaching. Most importantly our boys are genuinely happy at their new school. Additionally, the Lisbon ES PTA mentoring program was a welcomed surprise to a new family in a new town and school. I simply cannot stop talking about how wonderful things are now that we are in HCPSS and at Lisbon ES.

Growing up in this neighborhood, I have watched family and friends go through Lisbon and Glenelg school to continue in successful careers and have their own families who benefitted from the wonderful education.

Excellent school and staff that goes the extra mile to ensure things are done right. Teachers are very cooperative and work with parents concerns & issues not to mention the extraordinary close knit community!
I am extremely pleased with the quality of education and individual attention that my second and third grade children have received at Lisbon for the past two years. The school has exceeded my expectations. My children previously attended a private school where their individual needs were not met nearly as well as they have been these past two years. The GT program and PTSA are wonderful and the extracurricular activities have something for everyone. I am extrememly happy with the educational program. Howard County schools cannot be beat!

We have been at Lisbon Elementary school for 3 years. I now have a 2nd grade boy and a 5th grade girl. We are extremely pleased! We have had our children at private school, and one other public school, Lisbon by far has done the best job with our children. Teachers communicate well with parents.Individual learning needs are identified promptly and plans are put into place to help the child succeed. I have found all of our teachers thus far to be dynamic and outgoing with the students. I always feel welcome when I am in the school. The office staff are always pleasant and helpful. I am also impressed with seing the Principal and Vice Principal greeting the students in the morning outside no matter what the weather is, and saying goodbye after school. I agree with the need to lighten up at lunch.

I believe that the children are not put first. I also think that the teachers don't communicate well enough with the parents before doing what they think is best. Racial issues should be taking more seriously. The children need to come first no matter what!

I have had my children at Lisbon for 5 years and have been extremely pleased with the instruction, discipline and respect given to both children. Communication between teachers and parents has been a key asset to this postive experience!

I'm very happy with Lisbon ES. The teachers are attentive to the students needs and communicate to the parents any concerns. I get notes of praises and on problems they're having. The agenda books they use to communicate between teachers and parents are useful. If I send a note it is answered quickly. I can check the agenda book daily to see what is going on. I've had 4 children attend Lisbon ES and have been very happy with the school. There are a lot of parent volunteers and family events. They could lighten up a little in the lunch room!

The school needs improvement in respecting the children. The school presents with an uptight atmosphere. Though a geographical issue, the school lacks diversity in the staff and student population. Poor communication skills between staff and parents was also experienced. Overall, very disappointed with the school.
