This school is a true gem! Close knit group of families and staff all dedicated to successful children. I know some other reviewers mentioned expensive calendars. I personally know from experience at another private school that this calendar is really the only big expense beyond tuition- which is very affordable. It is a private school, there MUST be fundraisers. What do people expect? GREAT school with a strong parish behind!
St Bridget's is a very close knit community of students ,parents and teachers. The school has a very safe environment feeling. Nothing is brushed under the rug...so to speak. Hot lunches 5 days a week. 4 days are ordered on line. Spanish 3 rd grade(could start sooner if up to me) Love to see a gym in the near future, right now outside on black top or parish building. If this is all the kids know what gym is , it is what they are used to. Now the CON $625.00 a year per family mandatory fundraiser 3 weeks due before Xmas. School board please change this (different time of the year $ due, 2 payments a year ? , PTO fundraisers partial money goes to calendar fundraiser? And unfortunately and surprisingly the teachers are paid much , much less than public. So in turn we have much older teachers hanging in there till retirement days.
Pre-school through 8 grade with before school and after school care. We love this small close knit Catholic school. It has a focus on God & Jesus with a strong academic core. Our kids got into all five high schools they applied to including Xaverian, BC, Archies, Cardinal Spellman and CM out of St. Bridget's. They placed well on the catholic placement tests. This school prepares them well for high school. I like how the teachers and principal keep trying to make the curriculum better. They have Spanish, Art and chorus to round the kids out. Most of the teachers seem to really enjoy their jobs and work hard there. Like all schools they do have fund raisers which aren't fun but is necessary. I just wish it didn't cost so much but you get what you pay for.
Thes amll enviornment is a plus, also the Catholic values that are exhibited by teachers and students. Up to date computer lab, and great new technologies accessible to classrooms. There is a music class, though focused only on chior, and no instrumental lessons. Latin is a course requirment in grades 7 and 8.
The small school environment was a plus for our family. However, the lack of art, music and language programs is a concern. Gym is done in the yard or in the parish hall therefore no real equipment for growth. Increased enrollment should be monitored so that class size is not compromised Expensive extras need to be budgeted for such as the fundraising 'calendar' which cost $500 to a family if they can not sell tickets.
