A safe place to learn. Community is a focus with lots of cross-grade activities and whole school events. A spirit of cooperation and pleasure in learning prevails.

Merriam elementary is an AMAZING school to be part of. They have a warm, welcoming community, extremely dedicated staff, and a very strong cirriculum - not to mention all the friendly, enthusiastic students! I went there for all 6 years of elementary school, and i have to say, it's a place where, upon graduation, you learn to appreciate what a fantastic community you have been part of. From "reading buddies" to "family groups" to "all school meetings"; from the student newspaper to art class to science experiments; from the first day of kindergarten to the last day of sixth grade, Merriam is a place that allows students to be students, a place that accepts students for thetype of learners they are, a place that - with, again, all the dedicated teachers - nutures those little 5-year-olds up all the way through their 6th grade graduation.

Merriam is an amazing school community with creative people running it and children who love being there!
