I love how Pike is committed to developing the "whole child" - they encourage creativity, risk-taking and rich learning. My children are delighted to go to school, excited to learn and never want to miss a day. As a parent, it makes my heart sing with delight to see my children be thoroughly engaged. Students are proud to be high-achievers -- Pike is also dedicated to support the development of truly compassionate citizens. Just THE best.
Pike approaches homework, like almost all issues, with a commonsense approach. In the Lower School, there is no homework - children need to play when school is over. In Middle School, homework is introduced and increased so that by the time students enter Upper School, they are able to independently pace themselves and complete assignments.
The teachers accuse the students of "playing" games in school AND they won't listen to student opinions, they also give Lunch duties unfairly, Overall this is Unsatisfactory to BARE MINIMUM Below Average, Only good part is good education. May not send my kid to school here for 7th grade now
I currently attend The Pike School. I absolutely adore the vigorous curriculum that takes you and brings you to places where you can succeed. Lots of students go off to pristine private schools including Phillips Academy and Middlesex School. I really enjoy what the teachers have to offer although it is a tough school in terms of work load and a lot of peer pressure. The eighth graders are messed up and some of them are really screwed up which is a result of how they shelter you at Pike. The faculty and students are really friendly and it is not a school known for any types of bullying. The teachers are trained to fit the needs of individual students and characters within the classroom environment. I recommend you apply if you're interested in an academic, athletic, fun and safe school! I love it here. The academic load can sometimes become difficult and stressful but it is preparing you for high school. Pike has grades pre-k to 9th grade and is a preparatory day school. I hope I could help you in a slight way whether you're a student or parent. In addition the teachers who fit the curriculum to your needs and teach you are eager for you to succeed. Thanks again!
