My son began attending Pincushion Hill Montessori School in the summer program and transferred to the regular school year. Every day I see how excited he is to attend and be with the amazing faculty and staff. They have truly treated him as their own child and I can't ever see him attending any other school.

Our child learnt very little for the money charged. There is also confusion on who is in charge of the school and the principal can be rude to parents.

I have sent 2 children to Pincushion and both have thrived. The curriculum can be demanding and will keep pace with an inquisitive child. Love the diversity in the school and the disciplined environment. One of my children has graduated out of Pincushion and is now in public school and we are disappointed in the public school. Our child was far ahead of her classmates in public school, took the 4th grade MCAS upon entrance to public school and received Advanced ratings in all categories. Unfortunately the options for private school post-3rd grade are unaffordable.

Very dissappointed in the school. Not worth the extra cost when public school nearby was just as good. My shy child did not improve her.

Children that are self-starters and possess a high level of confidence and independence may well prosper in this environment. If your child is shy and a follower and not a leader then Pincushion will not be a good match. The 'screening interview' results will be that 'your child will grow into our environment'. Truth is not all kids do well in Montessori. If you have doubts pursue a traditional curriculumn overeen by the Department of Education. Ashland Public Schools are fine and meets the needs of ALL CHILDREN.

Pincushion Hill Montessori School is a welcoming, safe, nurturing environment that cultivates a love of learning in each and every child. The program provides an encouraging social atmosphere where children feel empowered to express themselves. This leads to a confident, secure, happy individual. It is an International community which has been providing an individualized, quality education with a diverse curriculum since 1962.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
