This is a wonderful neighborhood school, a rare thing these days! While there has been turnover with the principal, one need only look to the staff for reassurance. There is VERY LOW staff turnover. They are excellent, committed teachers. There is also a very professional and consistent staff (secrretary, custodian, counselor, etc.). It is a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment. The parents, pastor and priests are very involved in the school on a daily basis, and that sends a wonderful message to the kids. The children do have music, art, computeer lab and library time. There are extra curricular acitivities like CYO sports and scouting. I am very thankful that the pastor is committed enough to the school to be willing to make tough choices, like letting go a principal who was not working out. That shows true commitment to the children's best interests and I am grateful for it!

The problem I have with St. Brigid's is the high turnover rate of the principals. My wife and I are considering a new school for our kids for the 2008 schoolyear.

I love this school. My children are happy here and the quality of the education they are receiving is better then most schools in the area. I was however disappointed when the spanish class was cancelled. Both of my children were looking forward to taking it yet neither one did. Also extracarricular activities are a nil. They could try for more afterschool programs, ie; sports.

There are certain criticisms for every school. When it comes to a Catholic school, automatically one has a higher expectation. The only thing St. Brigid's lacks is leadership. There have been four principals in the last four years. This has resulted in the school's direction being changed so frequently, that each leader has not had sufficient time to accomplish their individual goals for the improvement of the school. And just for the record, the 2004-2005 tuition is $4100. On a positive note, the teachers and parents have a collaborative relationship which vastly improves the quality of education. Overall, I recommend the school.

I think that the child (not parent) who wrote the above review is off base! If an angry student who did not like a teacher reviews -- of course it is going to be based on emotion rather than what the school is truly like. I have a child at St. Brigid's (formerly of another school) and I think it is one of the greatest schools in South Boston! The teachers are wonderful, the principal is dedicated, energetic, and cares about every family that comes through the door. I would not hesitate to encorage you to look at this school for your child. The school provides a wonderful catholic education, where my child learns in a very safe environment. Its great!

I know of many children who attend this school and they are all very happy and enjoy the learning that takes place there. The teachers are dedicated and very involved in the lives of the students. The principal is a very hard worker and has done much to strengthen the shcool's Catholic identity. Priests and parents take an active role in the school also. The tuition is very reasonable and not $4000 as the student reports in his/her review. If you are truly looking for a good Catholic education for your child, St. Brigid School deserves a look.

I am a soon to be a graduate of this school and it is the worst school you could go to. The teachers are horrible and the principle has no clue what she's doing. Its a waste of $4,000. Dont go to ST. Brigids.
