Parents are very involved and have fostered a great school community. School has a nice auditorium and other facilities which are rare for an elementary school. Kids have some unique extras like science from kindergarten on, dance, art, music and gym. 9/10 teachers are excellent. Very happy with the overall experience

Amount of homework: Agree

Not too much homework, at least in the lower school. I think it ramps up a bit city-wide in the upper school (5th-8th)

Develops character: Strongly agree

They do a very nice job teaching "the Lyndon Way" of respect and responsibility, and are working with the older kids to serve as school mentors to the younger ones.

Teachers are hard-working and really look out for each student. It's part of a big city bureaucracy but the teachers really cultivate a nice culture at the school.

Lyndon is a pilot school which means a public school run like a charter school. Lately, school has become more like other public schools and not helping smart kids get smarter. Current emphasis is on getting the bottom moved up a little. The result is this "best of Boston" school is becoming just like all the rest. With severe budget cuts planned for 2014-15, things will only get worse. School will lose $200,000 and 3-4 teachers. That will not help this school stop it's sliding MCAS scores.

I am very pleased with the Lyndon. It is a great school, great teachers, alot of parent involvement. Over the last few years they have started an afterschool activity program. My daughter (6th grader) is taking African Dancing. She loves it. She is very happy here and I am very happy that she was able to get tnto this school!

The Lyndon's strongest area is parental involvement. However, this is not always welcomed by the management team. Parental concerns are not typically addressed. This school is on a nice street in a nice neighborhood. This doesn't make it a 'safe' school. Many incidents that occur at the school are brushed under the rug. This way the management team maintains its position as the 'it' school.
