St. Columbkille School is one of only a handful of Catholic schools left in my area. Our school houses the best people I've ever met, from faculty and staff, parents and children, to outstanding academics. This school is the true meaning of one big happy family.
The teachers instill trust, respect, commitment and success. The teachers, parents and students have created a sense of community and belonging. The school continues to strive for success and constant improvement.
My son has been part of the Early Education Program since the partnership with BC in 2006. Change has been slow to come in some areas, but not in the education and social development of the children. The teachers have been wonderful, keeping me informed academically and socially. Getting actively involved in the program, events and other activities has given me the opportunity meet and to get to know the teacher, the parents, the students and the community. They also offer an after-school program through Boston Catholic Schools Connect and I have seen improvement in that program as well. I hope that more improvements are to come, but I have been very pleased with my child's education and experience at St. Col's.
I have been involved with St. Columbkille School for the past 3 years. During this time my son has received an excellent education. I have found that communication in general has improved significantly with the new Head of School as the liason between Boston College. BC's involvement has created some community concerns and expreienced growing pains, but with the Head of School wokring closely with the teaches and families the communication and quality of education continues to grow.
I love all the changes at St. Columbkille School. The new Head of School and Boston College have implemented a lot of positive changes. The teachers must all have a master degree in education, there is a brand new curriculum, all new computers, new science program and the building has been updated and renovated. The Head of School has eliminated non-educational programs that use to waste the time of teachers and students. I am especially happy that I no longer must participate in constant fundraisers. My relatives and friends are grateful they no longer have to purchase unnecessary goods to support the school. The tuition cost is very reasonable. My children are receiving a first class education and I am confident they will be admitted to highly selective high school when the time comes. Boston College and St. Columbkille forming a partnership was the best thing that ever happened to the school and my children.
I love the school and so do my children! The values and moral standards can't be surpassed by other schools. The quality of the teachers and the education are excellent. The after school program is also wonderful.
St.Columbkille is a disgrace, ever since BC got involved I've been disappointed. I had high expectations for this year and they weren't succeeded. The Principal has taken away many of the fun activities, for the parents and children. It seems that BC has destroyed our neighborhood, instead of bringing it together like its suppose to be. The new teachers that they have hired are absolutely horrid , discussing inapporate subjects of their social lives to our children. I am glad that I won't have to send any of my children to this school next year. I reccommend you dont send your kids here, this is no longer the parent/child friendly Catholic school it was.
