I am so glad that my kids are in the Garfield. They have been there for 5 years, and almost all their teachers have done a SUPERB job of creating a fun, inclusive and stimulating atmosphere for them to learn in. It's a small, caring community in which all the teachers know all the students and all the students know what the rules and values of the school are. The principal is very committed to giving her teachers as much freedom as possible, and the result is that teachers are constantly updating their materials and curricula. The school has an excellent partnership with Boston College's Education program, so most teachers have full-time pre-practicum aides helping in the class. This makes it much easier for the kids to learn. Finally, the music teacher, Mr. Farretta, does an amazing job of getting the kids excited about music.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
