I was a student here from age 13 to age 16. I still have nightmares about my experience and I'm 26. I remember being dragged from the classroom for poorly handling my anxiety. I remember being put in a padded room sobbing and afraid after a meltdown then told I was to stay in there until I stopped crying.
I was not challenged academically and, not surprisingly, credits in "applied life skills" don't transfer when reintegrating back into public school. And that's if you're one of the ones lucky ones allowed to transfer back out.
lame, not challenging. They give the kids worksheets all the time, My daughter would come home and tell me that they watched movies and played games all day. When I would ask her about learning she could not come up with anything.
The staff at this school put my 8 year old in a restraint and bruised her. Then they lied about it. She continues to have Anxiety about this school.
They also make them play in a field at recess that is covered with geese poop.
The family worker only bothers to visit when there is a meeting coming up, other than that I don't hear anything! Looking for another school When I visited the school the children were just sitting in the classroom doing nothing No work. no instruction, no reading just sitting there.
My son has attended Lighthouse School for three years now. It is an excellent school with a very caring staff. They have done an outstanding job evaluating what he needs both socially and academically, and implementing a program to meet his needs. He has grown leaps and bounds during his time at Lighthouse. We are grateful for all they have done for him.
