Profile Completeness

HONOR ROLL

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

We chose Rashi over a high performing public school system and a top private school. The academics are outstanding and child-centered balancing rigor and fun. The sense of community is palpable. Students support and appreciate each other as individuals quite unique, especially in middle school. The faculty love teaching in a culture that fosters collaboration, professional growth, and innovation. Our kids feel an integral part of the Jewish "story". Shaped by our own, Jewish values, they are becoming young woman of great character. So used to being heard by the adults at the school, they feel confident in their skins, empowered to advocate for themselves and others, and assured of their own voices. They are becoming grounded, confident, young women with strong foundational academic skills. My eldest is now a junior at a top private school and has consistently earned high honors, (while easily integrating socially and taking leadership roles). Rashi has served all three of my kids well, despite the significant differences between their personalities, learning styles, and temperaments.

The school is a good place for students who would not survive socially at public school. The grades are too small making every interaction magnified. Too much staff with too little to do but examine every social exchange. The school is fine for those who like to be coddled. It is great for k-2. After that, the students need to broaden their horizons.

As we searched for a school to support our two children s unique needs, we found many schools that provided either a nurturing environment or a challenging academic curriculum. In following its core Jewish values, The Rashi School was the only school we found that could do both. The supportive kehillah (community) coupled with an individual approach to limud (learning) has enabled each of our children to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We feel lucky to have found The Rashi School.

Our twins entered first grade this year, their first year with you, and it has been seamless. Our experience with Rashi has renewed our faith in a sound, private school education. The teachers and administrators welcomed us with open and warm arms and we are excited for our future here. We know our children are loved for their individuality and we know our family found the perfect spot at Rashi. Rashi strikes the perfect balance between a nurturing and academically rigorous environment. Each teacher is keenly tuned into each student. It is remarkable.

Rashi is an excellent school. Our daughter has been here since kindergarten (now in 6th grade) and we are very satisfied with the quality of her education, excellent teachers, and great facilities. She has been very happy here and has many wonderful friendships among her peers. The environment is warm and nurturing, and the individualized and creative approach to learning has worked well for our child. We highly recommend this school.

As noted in another review, the quality of instruction and morale continue to deteriorate while the administration seems solely focused on wooing wealthy parents and collecting tuition. Social services transformed into a profit center where parents are required to purchase school-directed services separately. Bottom line: pretty new facility and some good staff but overall not a value proposition. A particularly poor choice now for parents looking for a nuturing environment, probably better for the (wealthy) image conscious.

I have had 3 children go through Rashi. The Staff and the education was excellent. The staff gets to know each child as an individual and helps them be independent, strong thinkers and learners. They foster curiosity. My kids are able to advocate for themselves and learned to see teachers as partners , not the enemy. They love learning because of the school.

If you have a child who is academically gifted as determined by the appropriate testing, Rashi will not provide the truly enriching curriculum needed in order for such learners to thrive and grow. Be mindful of the use of differentation, because even this type of accommodation has significant limitations for gifted learners.

Quality of instruction is inconsistent and it really depends on who you get. Teachers come and go every year. Administration seems more focused on getting tuition than making sure the kids get a good education. Definitely not worth the tuition.

This is a really superior school, one of the most caring environments you could hope for combined with academic excellence. There is a search going for a new Head, who will replace a good but not great one. The faculty works well together, the children get individualized attention, and the parent body is both highly supportive of education and deeply involved.

Rashi used to be a very good school, with good leadership, and strong teachers. Recently, I see it as slipping. The school has to in some ways start from the begining, and they need a solid plan.
