As a DS student I feel that this school while academically excellent breeds a variety of other problems. It is an incredibly high stress environment, making it a breeding ground for various stress related health issues. If you chose to take fewer honors/AP classes you are labelled as stupid and pressured to take more yet if you take to many it is impossible to do your work. There are also a lot of problems with substance abuse. Parents turn a blind eye when their kids do it yet they will make a scene if someone else's does. DS students and their parents are the most competitive bunch around.
Love this school precisely because it is smaller. Every quiz and test, we get an email reminder. My daughter went to speak with a guidance counselor because she wanted to discuss her schedule and I get a call. The teachers really care. Although a larger school may offer more course choices i.e. Russian or Greek, I think there are enough choices for the college-bound to more than fulfill their requirements and set up a competitive transcript. Plus the communities are small enough that you can watch all the kids grow up together through the years
Dover Sherborn is one of the best school in Massachusetts. Its education offered there is great and the faculty is top notch. Even though the school is a public school, it seems to be just as good most private schools. The courses are challenging and the children get the best education possible. Any child who goes to the school gets a top notch education and will have a great start into going to a good college
Outstanding guidance, science, math, english departments. Though Spansih is not at the same level, Latin & French students get great preparation. ECs are average, parent involvement & safety and discipline are high. The principal and vice principal are gems!
