As a parent of two Falmouth Academy graduates, one current student, and one more to come in the future I have had great opportunity to view FA up close and can enthusiastically recommend the school. FA's small class sizes and engaged teachers ensure that the "no back rows" mantra is more than just a slogan. To fully appreciate what makes FA special one needs to meet the faculty, they are passionate, thoughtful, and interested on an individual level in the growth of each student.
My daughters attended 2 different middle schools before attending Falmouth Academy and I could not be more pleased with FA. The small class size at FA allows for teachers to meet all the kids needs - whether they need extra help in a subject or extra challenge. The school does have high standards and a rigorous curriculum but there are many supports built in to the system to help kids succeed many "average" kids are thriving at FA. The teachers are happy, have the ability to be creative and are invested in the school and kids. The kids certainly do have lives other than academics. There are sports and clubs at FA that meet after school and the kids have time to socialize on the weekends. I have been very impressed by the communication. The progress reports are detailed and it is very easy to contact your child's advisor or teacher. The school is small which is a strength in terms of building a community where the students and teachers know and support each other. The small size does mean there are limited sports offerings- soccer, basketball and lacrosse. This may be a drawback for a child that excels in a different sport and wishes to play with his or her school.
