My child attends this school, and I think he gets more opputunities here than most other schools in terms of non academic classes such as art, technology, drumming, sign language, just to name a few. They really encourage students to challenge themselves and excel. the staff here are committed to working with each child's abilities and improving all students individually. Class sizes are not large. there are less than 20 students in my sons class and when in Kindergarten there were about 15. the teachers are friendly, and even though they work longer days than most other teachers (newton is an Extended Learning time school) they always seem to have a smile on their face.

Providing your child is perfect, then it is a great school. But for someone like my son with severe ADHD and behavioral problems, the school is unprofessional, unprepared and unwilling to do their part. My son was amazing in PreK, in Easthampton and Greenfield. Then he started Newton and its been horrible. To the point where the principle pretty much forced me to putting my son into a behavioral hospital. He ended up missing 3 weeks of school and when he returned he was put into Strides (a decent program) and at 8am, they were still discussing who was going to be there with him. We went through several aids and it tooks months to find one appropriate. They do not monitor the websites our children go on. I could go on for weeks describing what we went through and we are only 1/2 way through the year.

My daughter and son both attend Newton School. It's a unique school that has embraced the extended day program and offered great programs such as Strings for Kids (violin), TaeKwonDo (which helps with discipline, listening skills and focus), sign language, dance - these are just to name a few. The staff are dedicated to the students and it's a nurturing environment. The size of the school is a good fit for younger elementary students.

I am the parent of a Newton School Kindergartener. I could not be more pleased with the school and the staff. The consistant attention to detail and effort made by the staff to alwya provide a safe learning environment for the children is with out a doubt top notch. They concentrate on teaching the children respect and courtesy and expect no less than that from each student...they always make time for parents with any concern. I can not say enough about how happy I am that my daughter attends this school!

Newton Elementary is just off the highway and is a warm, delightful elementary school. The staff are terrific and they have a state grant for extra day enrichment. They are offering strings and dance. The faculty is terrific.
