I currently have two teenagers at this High School and have been impressed overall. They have both had excellent and horrible teachers and administrators with many in between which is probably the case at any high school. Departments such as History, English, Theater, Biology, Spanish, Art, and Athletics are incredibly strong as demonstrated in numerous State and National competitions. However, the students who typically succeed the most have strong support from parents who are very involved in helping the school do it's job better (i.e. Sports Boosters, Edfund, Friends groups, volunteering, donating, etc..). If you want an all-inclusive, go to private school which can also fire bad teachers/admins. without combatting unions. Otherwise, parents must step up to the plate to be a part of the solution to assure their children's success. Fortunately, the majority of parents are involved.

Congratulations to the Class of 2014! Great group of students who were accepted to top colleges. HW Regional has great new leadership, provides a top notch academic program, terrific sports program - go LAX, theater and arts. There is something for everyone within this supportive community!

The school could be better but definitely could be worse. Students tend to not participate in spirit days or put any effort in. Also the guidance office doesn't do a very good job of looking after their students. For years, students and teachers have complained about two teachers in the building. The office said they would speak to the head of each department and the teacher but of course they would deny any accusations. Teachers range from awful and biased to the best you will ever have in your student career. Like all schools, the food options are often complained about. HOWEVER, this school has options for vegetarian and vegan students which not all schools may have. The biggest disappointment besides the teachers would be the lack of diversity but that could be a result of where the school is located.

Ha! You said it! The quality of this school has diminished greatly! Not to mention the fact that no student is disciplined in any way, there are no consequences for their actions, nor do they even have to accept responsibility for their actions! Zero diversity, zero spirit, zero community involvement. This school sort of has a zombie effect. Everyone mopes around until the day is done and then splits as fast as possible. Good luck trying to find a teacher that is willing to stay after school hours to assist your child in any way!

It truly is sad. For us, the schools / teachers lack of effort to communicate to the parents is extremely disheartening. We never really know what is going on with anything! They will apparently tell your child what they HAVE to do, but will not email, phone, send a note, flyer or list home for the parent so they are aware of the happenings . If you, as a parent, are to disagree and tell your child to be home after school you are then labeled a bad parent that has no consideration for your child s dreams! My son apparently has to be at the school this weekend to participate behind the scenes of a play. Our family has had plans for this weekend for the past month! We found this out yesterday, and the weekend is tomorrow. Then try and contact anyone at the school to verify, confirm or ask questions messages are taken, but you will never get a reply. Grading systems constantly being changed. Online reports never updated. We never really know for sure how our son is doing academically. This school is mass disorganization and it is extremely frustrating. I have to say, the only good thing about this school, is that for an old building, it is kept very clean.

The Highschool is great. I have no complaint about sport fees because we do not have fabulous funding from the government. The sport fees keep the sports going.

My husband and I graduated from the first class to go entirely through H/W (1962-1966). We now live in the south. If you have no basis for comparison, you have no clue. The education that we got at H/W was SO SUPERIOR to other areas. Be VERY grateful for what you have. It could be SO MUCH WORSE. The teachers were outstanding and the curriculum was far more advanced than the CURRENT curriculum elsewhere.

I thknk the Hamilton-Wenham schools have outstanding teachers and programs. The History and Science Fairs at the hgih school, which are something not all high schools participate in, offer students a great opportunity to refine their research and writing skills. The high school regularly advances students to competitions at the national level. The music and drams programs are phenomenal.

As a parent of special education children, the regional is really underperforming. More innovative ideas and 'thinking outside the box' needs to be done to meet the needs of even moderately disabled children. The school does a good job at servicing children with 'cognitive ceilings,' but needs to significantly boost its reading program and services, particularly at the grade school level. All teachers need to be better trained regarding disabilities, particularly at the high school level. Resources are tight and squeaky wheels tend to get the grease...

The quality of the high school education has slipped over the past 5 years. Extracuricular activities and sports 'user fees' limit and/or exclude involvement. I would suggest to those unfamiliar with the area to visit Middlesex County Towns and Schools.

Having grown up in the same house I am raising my kids in, and attending the same schools and having some of the same teachers as my three children has been wonderful. I can not imagine how difficult our lives would be if we had to live somewhere else. I can't say enough about the compassion, kindness, and discretion I have been witness to for the past ten yrs. I have a sophmore, and eighth grader, and a sixth grader this year, and I love this school system. thank you
