Dawson school has one of the most difficult and unpleasant staff. The administration in this school is not responsive to children's needs. I am so glad that this is my daughter's last year here. When you are at this school, you really have to be your child's biggest advocate , otherwise they will drive you insane with complaints everyday.
My rating still stands from June 17, 2012. We are finally out of that school and now in another state. My kids are thriving and getting the curriculum they deserve. Both are in programs for Exceptional students. Not being held back to the average kid like at Dawson. They are challenged and HAPPY again. The administration in the Wachusett District is out of control and lost when it comes to real needs of above average students. My one child was 'broken' by the end of 5th grade. It was the worst 3 yrs of his school career. He now comes home from his new school excited to tell us what he learned and how he showed the teacher another way to do the math problem and she thought it was great and he was right! WOW unlike the one at Dawson that used to accuse him of not working hard enough in math. If you are forced to go to this school just be aware of what is going on and be your child's biggest advocate!
This is the best elementary school in the Wachusett Regional School District. It has the most active PTA and parent community in the Town of Holden and the entire district. The family programs at the school are exceptional and always draw a big crowd. IALAC - I Am Lovable And Capable is a program in the school that teaches the children each person is special and is to be treated with respect and in a caring manner. Truly a great school!
