THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST CHOICE IN A SCHOOL THAT WE COULD HAVE MADE. THE TEACHERS ARE PHENOMINAL. THE STUDENTS ARE IN SUCH A CARING AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THAT I CAN'T COMPARE IT TO ANY OTHER SCHOOL. THE ENTIRE STUDENT BODY IS INVOLVED IN MANY ACTIVITIES AND PRODUCTIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS A TEAM. SO THAT ALL AGES ARE LEARNING TOGETHER. THE CHRISTIAN ENVIRONMENT MAKES THIS SCHOOL A SAFE AND PEACEFUL PLACE FOR ALL OUR CHILDREN TO LEARN,

All three of my children went to school at HCA, 2 have graduated and one has 2 more years. The method of teaching children at HCA is unsurpassed. They have so much hands on activity that their retention of knowledge is amazing. Children learn through experience and that what HCA gives them---experience. The Christian values taught by the staff coupled with the smaller class sizes, creates a safe and loving atmosphere. My children who graduated from HCA went on to a public high school and were so ready to face the world and stand firm with their strong morals learned at HCA and reinforced at home. My kids were amazed at how smart they felt knowing so much more than other kids about the material that they were supposed to be learning in high school. Their self esteem is very high and I give that credit to HCA.

Our almost 5 year old son has attended pre-school for the past two years at HCA. Even though our town has a strong public elementary school system, we have decided to keep him in HCA as he enters kindergarten next year. They have excellent, caring teachers and a curriculum that reinforces a Christian world-view in age appropriate ways. Very much worth the up-front investment in our son's education.

Three years ago we hit the proverbial wall with the situation of my oldest son in fifth grade. He was in a very bad place hating school and lacking confidence academically. God led us to boldly make a change and enroll our three boys in Holden Christian Academy 4/2006. The HCA "family" welcomed our boys with open arms and we all experienced the loved of God immediately, The belief that each child is special and gifted is evident in the way children are taught, disciplined and ultimately encouraged. The curriculum is demanding for teachers to create as it embraces multiple learning styles and demands hands-on learning as well. The principal, teachers, parents working part time and volunteers all challenge the kids to work hard, be kind and encourage others. To drop off my children daily at a school that is safe and loves and challenges my children is truly a blessing.

I am so glad to have HCA as a school for my daughter. I love the thematic curriculum -- this year, Cultures in Context -- which carries through all of the different subjects, making meaningful connections between areas usually taught in isolation. My parents, who were skeptical about the strength of academics in a Christian school, have been blown away by my daughter's knowledge and understanding of history, science, reading, and math in kindergarten and first grade. All of the HCA students I know who have graduated have done extremely well at both public and private high school and college. I am thrilled with my daughter's education. (Love being involved in the school as a parent, too.)

This was my daughter's first year at HCA. She was previously homeschooled and had a great transition at HCA. The teachers helped bring out the best in her. She was challenged but also supported in her struggles. I would highly reccommend HCA.

Our child has attended the school for 8 years (every year but K). The school deserves much praise. The principal, administration, staff and teachers are dedicated, caring people who sincerely live out their Christian faith while also striving for academic excellence and relevency. This is a dynamic school where kids are safe and cared about. Lasting friendships are formed. The middle school teachers are great. Everyone works as a team. The principal, staff and teachers set a very high example for the students. I highly recommend this school. There is a generous financial aid program also.

I had 3 children attend HCA. All have gone on to become successful adults. I wish my 2 sons could be there now, maybe with prayer and God's will, some day HCA will be able to implement a special needs program....I will be the first one to volunteer! I miss my HCA family.

I have to say, as a parent of five chldren, four which have been fortunate enough to attend HCA, that if you are looking for an education that truly prepares your child for high school and college, then you have found it here. My oldest is 22 years old and HCA forever helped him to be the man every mom wants them to be. I have a 16 year old in high school who is in the top 5 percent of his class due to HCA's educational abilities. I have a 14 year old daughter who is currently there and a 9 year old son in the third grade. Every one of my children are different in learning and in personality and HCA has nurtured the education and personality of each and everyone of them. My 4 year old will be attending as well when he is old enough.

My children are getting a great education at HCA. Amazing curriculum, dedicated teachers and staff and a wonderful community of parents. And on top of it, they absolutely love going to school - so much so that our seven year old son is convinced there should be school on Saturdays! HCA is one of a kind and an abundant blessing to our family.

I'm sorry...but it sounds like these reviews are being written by faculty and staff who are parents, instead of just parents.

I have one child who has already graduated from HCA, and another currently in 8th Grade at the school. When we first considered sending our children to HCA, we worried that we were making a potential sacrifice in academics to gain a sound spiritual component to their education. We have been delighted to have that worry put to rest. The school is academically challenging and Biblically on-target. The faculty members are well trained, caring, and very engaged with the students. Our daughters have benefitted from thier relationships with like-minded teachers and fellow students. Our older daughter is now in a demanding private Christian high school, and her preparation at HCA exceeded our expectations. Christian Education takes commitment on the part of parents, but in this case, with this fine school, our investment has paid off. We encourage everyone to take a closer look at HCA!

My two children attended HCA from K - 8th grade. My husband and I were extremely pleased to find a Christian school that taught our children to think about everything they were learning from a biblical perspective. The teachers are professional, warm, and caring. The curriculum is challenging, engaging and often fun! My children, now college age, still remember many of the things they studied at HCA. They remember the reports they wrote about historical heroes, the amazing learning centered field trips, rules of grammar, stories about missionaries, helpful parents and mentoring teachers. HCA prepared them for life in public High School and college, but more importantly, it helped prepare them to own their own faith. They have built life long solid Christian friendships. I am so glad we choose HCA to partner with us to help us to educate and train up our children in the way they should go!

Three of my children graduated from Holden Christian Academy. They were all well prepared for high school and college. While at college on of my children called and shared that many of her classmates were struggling with the higher level thinking being asked of them. She was extremely comfortable with it and attributed her ease with conceptual thinking to the training recieved at HCA. All three of my children have stayed in contact with many of their HCA friends and consider them to be life-long friends. My husband and I are thrilled with the innovative education they received and the godly faculty whp taught them. We feel they are well prepared to handle the next step in their lives. Thank you God for HCA!

We have sent our children, now in middle school, to HCA since they started Kindergarten. We have been very pleased with how the school supports our family's Christian values. They are very family oriented, and our family has seen a benefit by having our children at HCA.

We chose to send our son to this school due to our faith (Christian). We looked at several other private Christian schools. We are pleased, overall with the school. They have a great principal and innovative curriculum. The teachers are very dedicated, caring and definitely live out their faith with excellence. The middle school is small. The school cannot offer a large number of extra curricular programs and has a half day every Wednesday. I recommend this school, especially for Christians. We do not have public school experience to compare. We have not had any problem with bullying.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
