My eldest child has just entered the high school and I am very impressed at his new sense of responsibility and purpose. The programs the high school offers to support the freshman including Ignite and monthly advisory groups have sensitized my son to the impact of freshman grades on GPA and thus motivated him to perform to his ability. As parents we hadn't been able to transmit this message as effectively. I am thrilled with learning environment my son has encountered at Hopkinton High School.
The elementary and middle schools have nuturing teachers and tend to care for the whole child. The High School drops the ball on this. If your child is academically bright - they'll shine. If they struggle - it's easy for them to fall through the cracks. The High School needs to improve in this area.
This school district is amazing! The teachers are very qualified and the students learn very much. The MCAS scores have been high and keep getting higher. The staff has goals of teaching the kids not only about certain subjects but about life, and they do that very well.
