i love my school. I've been there since eighth grade and couldn't be more happy with my academic and athletic achievements. I'm challenged every day academically and i love all of my teachers. The only thing that isn't excellent is the student life because of the administration's fear of accidents.
I am currently a junior and am very pleased with my progress at Barnstable High School. The opportunities are immense and the teachers are very open, caring, and sometimes even humorous in their teachings.
Great opportunity, lots of sports, wide variety of academics. Very large 2000 students, however small community. Like any h.s. you can do great things if you seek them out and you can do bad things if you seek them out.
I was a student at BHS for my 11th and 12th year, and graduated from the class of 2000. I enjoyed my classes there and found that many of them had not many more then 20 kids. My teachers were all very nice, and some made classes tons of fun. Many of them had an 'open door' policy, and that was great in case you had to ask for extra help or anything of that sort. From what I have seen in this school, you take out what you put in... If you make the effort to learn things and study, you will excel. If you drop the ball and are indifferent, don't be surprised to see your grades slip, or hang at just enough to 'get by'. Thus, attendence and participation are important, as they should be with any school.
They give up too easily on the kids that could be bright students. Should allow students with high test grades to be exempt from homework/class attendance to recieive grades accordingly. Kids end up receiving poor grades at the end of the term and just give up and quit school. Why should they bother staying.
