Leicester High is a wonderful small (540 students)public New England school, with an excellent principal, and a fairly new building (1995). Excellent music and drama opportunities are here, with many prizes won by the chorus and band, including an acapella choir that is superb. An excellent after school theatre program has put on musicals for many years. When the school was built, extra attention was paid to the 600 seat auditorium, with a series of practice rooms behind it, and a curtain that would be the envy of many professional theatre companies. The sophmore English honors class is rigorous, and is taught at a freshman college level. The math department is terrific. There are many other honors and AP courses. Students have the option of transfering to the free Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at WPI for their Junior and Senior years, while maintaining their association with Leicester.
