I graduated MHS last year and I must say, I was BEYOND prepared for my freshman year in college. The teachers are so encouraging, and they're always willing to go the extra step to help their students out. It's about time the building is redone, or better yet, replaced completely. However, I got an awesome education here and I'm so grateful for the amazing teachers who pushed me and saw my potential when I couldn't even motivate myself. Also, the guidance department deserves a huge shout out. My counselor always made me feel like I was the only student he was taking care of. I might not have made it to college if it weren't for the support I got from him and all of my teachers during my years here. I feel I was more prepared than most of the people I go to college with, especially in the writing department. Awesome education, awesome staff.
MHS, like many schools, is what you make it. If you want to get involved there is a club or a group or meet your interest. Marshfield as a town supports MHS and all its sports and productions. The music program is excellent thanks to support from parents and the community. I am not a huge fan of the principal, he is a little too self-righteous for me, but I have found most teachers to be caring and willing to go the extra mile for the students.
Marshfield gets a bad rap when compared to many neighboring public schools, but in my opinion and from my experiences, it is the best around. The classes are challenging, the teachers are engaging, the electives are unique, and the students work together as one community. If a student is willing to take the initiative and puts time and effort into his or her school work and activities, than he or she is just as capable of getting into a good college as a similar student at a private school. I attend Colby College currently, a small liberal arts college that is often referred to as a 'mini ivy.' I feel that I am much more prepared academically than most of my peers and I believe that is because of my time spent at MHS. My sisters had the same experiences at Brown University, Providence College, and Bentley University. A+++
I have 2 children who attend MHS now and one who recently graduated, attending an excellent college. I have found only outstanding teachers and staff. There is more support in this school for the students, should they need it or ask for it. If my children ever needed any help, the teachers have made themselves available, before, during and after school. There are amazing course selections, honors and level Zero courses. The sports, music, drama, arts and clubs that are available to the students are impressive. The community, faculty and parent support for these activities is remarkable. The Principal does a great job managing the students, building and staff, . He is just what Marshfield needed. The safety and well being of the students and the staff are a priority. The great programs reinforce the MHS ideals, integrity matters and we are one!
The building itself is below-par but the teachers are excellent.
Overall not a bad school. The town needs to build a new one someday. It does offer a variety of electives that aren't offered at other shcools. I enjoyed Mr. piwarunas's prinitng class. The screenprinting part was the best part.
this school is nowhere near an 8 its got a principal that is clueless & controlling & staff that hide behind eachother.they forgot how to be there for the kids...when will they learn... a definite 1 in my book
