My children have been at Eliot Pearson since the earliest grades (4 years now) and have had, without exception, phenomenal teachers who are true professionals. Everyone on the staff understands child development and the importance of a child-centered curriculum. They are extremely flexible and will work with parents around their child's particular needs. The anti-bias curriculum is practiced on every level of the school. Being 'different' is OK and all children are deeply respected. This is a very welcoming community for families from all walks of life. The school works very hard at cultivating this sense of community. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to get involved as they are able, in Community Discussion Groups, volunteer work, or just dropping in for coffee hour. Our parent community is wonderful and very supportive. There was a change in administration a couple of years ago, and a subsequent staff turnover, but the new teachers are amazing and the new director is truly dedicated to children and the ideals of the school. I am very optimistic for my youngest child's next three years at Eliot Pearson.

I have three children in the school and we love the warm community and the high teacher/student ratio. My kids build loving connection with her friends and teachers. Enough attention is given to each kids since there are usually 3-4 teachers for each classroom of 12-16 in preschool. The admission to preschool is hard that you need to apply a year ahead. However, I took advantage of their sibling policy by enrolling my oldest daughter into the 1st/2nd grade, which is much easier.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
