The Johnson School is a wonderful and unique community school in a great neighborhood. The grades range from k through 4th grade and there are 11 classrooms. Most children who attend school there walk to school, often with their parents. I believe that helps to foster parental involvement in the school. The staff of teachers and the principal are great. I would recommend the area and the school highly to anyone considering moving here.

Johnson is a great school! It is one of the few neighborhood schools left. Great support from principal, Ms. Brown, PTO and school council. Parents are encouraged to be a part of their child's learning. I would highly recommend this school to anyone considering this school district!

Outstanding community school! My wife and I are highly educated and very demanding about the quality of education for our two children. Excepting a district wide math curriculum that is not truly research based and excessive attention given to Peacemakers (a well intended but schmaultzy musical program), Johnson is a top notch school. The teachers are fabulous, parental involvement is high and the principal Barbara Brown is a hands on, energetic and insightful leader. While the building/facility needs updating, inside is a remarkable and attentive staff with an extrordinary committed. It may be one of the last truly 'community schools.'
