We're only 6 months in at this stage - our child entered at Kindergarten. It's been a spectacular experience so far. We've greatly enjoyed the truly diverse parents and the engaged community. The Head of School is very impressive, has a great personality and knows every child and every family. The music (violin and keyboard), reading and math have been highlights (the curriculum is STEAM - STEM plus the arts). The fact that it only goes through 6th grade rather than through 8th means it truly is a place for kids. We're a long ways off yet, but we are encouraged that the placement track record for next schools is very strong. Of the 40 children who graduated from 6th grade in the last two years, 9 went to Dana Hall and 7 went to Nobles. The other schools were excellent too. We live in the Back Bay and the school has been kind enough to subsidize and help arrange transport. Our daughter takes a bus in the morning and we have a sitter take the green line to the Chestnut Hill stop (a block or two from the school) and she rides that back home. We're thrilled.

I am not sure what happened with the first review but we are extremely pleased with the school. The school has a balanced environment of academics, art and social emotional supports.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
