Friends is a wonderful environment for learning; I am consistently amazed by the knowledge and confidence my child has gained. The curriculum diversity, hands-on opportunity, student community and overall positive atmosphere have to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

We were looking for a middle school for our soon to be 6th grader. One which was less rigid and more concerned about what the child thought rather than what the child could regurgitate. An educational consultant had compared our child to that of a clam shell: When in a stressful environment the clam shell is closed and little if nothing is learned. When in a calm, safe and nurturing environment the clam shell will be wide open and learning will take place. We found this calm, safe and nurturing environment at Friend s Academy with faculty who truly care about the students.

Small class sizes that allow for individualized instruction and unparallelled social / emotional learning. The school is situated on a stunning New England campus that allows for exploration, ropes courses, bee keeping, and gardening among others. The curriculum allows for a strong math curriculum, great literature, history, music, arts, amazing hands-on science lab and "out of the classroom" programs. Hands down, when you offer your children the FA experience, you give them a platform to learn from that is lifelong. Our family could not be happier.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
