Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I am very impressed by the quality of teachers, and the involvement and the depth of our principal Gwen Agna. I am continually amazed by Ms. Agna's educational and real world background and her deep understanding of the needs and demands of the kids she educates. This school would never be the same without her. I never knew what a difference a principal could make.

The principal (Gwen Agna) knows every childs name. I find this amazing. The teachers will help you, your family, your extended family, do many things to help. I have cancer and they helped so much for both my children. Neither of my kids go there now and I still can call up and talk to Gwen. This school deserves this award sooooo Much!

Our school community, led by the incomparable Gwen Agna, offers a happy, safe, supportive, joyful atmosphere, involves families, supports all children, and has transformed its considerable economic, social, and ethnic diversity -- formerly an obstacle -- into an asset. If the world took a cue from Jackson St. School, it would be a better, fairer, and more peaceful place. The children who come from this school will carry that with them.

Jackson Street School through its leadership is able to provide a loving environment by focusing on the individual student and their interests and needs despite limited resources and the size of the student body. Additionally the school does an amazing job offering opportunities for challening intellectual growth through the library, arts, music progams in combination with the classroom ciriculum.

Jackson Street has incredibly dedicated teachers and an incredible principal. Together they provide a wonderful education in a diverse school with kids from parents who teach at the University to homeless children. It is a mini UN which is a model for the way the world would work if we could all respect and learn from each other.

The eagerness to be life long learners is evident in staff, teachers and principal. This enthusiasm is contagious as children and aduldts work side by side to investigate and learn together. Parents at J.S.S. are the school's biggest supporters and help build the loving community at J.S.S. We all benefit.

What is it about Jackson Street School? There is a spirit in the air there that you feel the minute you walk through the doors. You can see it on the childrens' faces. They are happy. Why? Because Jackson Street School is so fortunate to have a principal that sets a tone of love and kindness. This gives the children a sense of safety and a sense of confidence. When a child feels this way, they are eager to learn and are happy to be in the classroom. The excellent teaching staff carries this tone through every grade and because of this, the kids get a great education and really bond with each other and their beloved Jackson Street School.

We are a family from Sweden spending the fall of 2008 in Northampton. We have two kids going to Jackson Street School (grade 2 and 5) and we are quite impressed to find the quality of support and attention at this school more than a match for schools back in Sweden. We (and a few more newcomers) were e. g. given a one hour tour of the school by the principal before the start of the semester. Both girls have had access to special individual language coaching and make great progress in all subjects.
