I have been a student at Oxford Middle School for 4 years. If a student bullies you, you have to hope that the vice principal won't think your making it up. Also, if a teacher does something wrong, don't bother telling the principal or vice principal because they will decide it as "not liking the teacher". This school has a good arts program, and good athletics, but the staff doesn't care and the administration is even worse. Don't send your kids here. It's not worth it.
The teachers don't pay attention to IEP's in place ... no contact with the parents, assignments are not updated on the web page (as is supposed to be the policy). The "new" I-Parent tool for tracking grades is also not updated by teachers and is inaccurate. The vice principal is rude, says demeaning things to children, and doesn't hold true to the guildelines of punishment. The special ed department (while it may be very good with some children) in my opinion lacks the necessary understanding of children with ADD/ADHD in order to be effective
The cheerleading coach kindly asked me no to go to practices, I asked the principal where Oxford stood on this subject and this is the response I received. Hi Mrs. Chamorro-Angers, I did check with the cheerleading coach and the Athletic Director regarding your inquiry about watching practice as that is their purview. A.D. John Doldoorian responded that all practices are closed. Parents are allowed to peek in toward the end of the practice session. If parents come to pick up their children, they can take a peek in from the hallway, maybe poke their head into the gym, but that is all. So in keeping with the athletic department's unwritten policy, parents do not attend practice. I hope that helps. Thanks for checking. Mrs. Hackett
I've been going to Oxford schools all my life. I started at OMS in 5th grade and now I'm in 7th. I like the school, but we really do need a lot of improvements. what we really need is a new building, because this one's way too old. I like the teachers, they're really nice, which helps kids learn.
I've been a student at OMS since 5th grade, now I'm in 8th, and the system is great. We get to learn the Spanish language and traditions this year, the first year we've had a foreign language in our school, and it's really interesting. I'm hopefully going to OHS next year to study more Spanish.
I went to OMS when a was a child and I loved it I now have my son going there and loves it as well there is nothing wrong the Oxford Middle school or any other schools in the town they have a great school system. The Worcester schools however are not the greatest and I am glad I got my child out of them
I've been going to the Oxford Middle School since the fifth grade. It's an awesome school to go to. The principal is really nice and great. Everyone takes good care of the school, safety rules, and the curriculum classes. I've had a great time while I was there, but know it's time for me to go to the high school.I've had fun in physical education, art class, and even Spanish. It's amazing to see the differences you learn from the fifth grade to the eighth.
I love the oxford school system i think it is wonderful
i think that this school is at a very good learning level. i think that the kids need to enjoy themselves more though and have more fun.
I completely agree. The 'clicks' are unbelievable but I guess can be expected anywhere but it's also true that if your child gets in trouble, they are forever black marked and can never seen to move forward. I really believe teachers 'warn' the next year's teachers about a child's behavior and then that child is treated differently. They should be trying to help children become better students rather than trying to black mark and label 'bad seeds'.
