The school offers a strong academic curriculum that has been enhanced by the new principal. Good athletic program for a small school with many opportunities. College advisement and placement is excellent.

Most of the faculty is very good, the guidance dept. is fantastic. Leadership is awful, kids used to love the school but now just the opposite with the new principal. It is not a friendly environment at all, in fact it is very tense. Girls sports are pretty good, boys sports are okay other than hockey which is absolutely pitiful. Possibly the worst coach to have ever stepped on the ice - hated by both players and parents. Save your money, there are much better options out there.

Terrific school with a lot of teacher/guidance support for the students and a great sense of community. Solid athletic department and enthusiasm for student involvement in extra curricular activities. My son has said he learned more in the first few weeks of school than he did his entire last year in middle school.

Personally I love Fenwick. There is a really strong sense of community with traditions such as spirit week and powderpuff. Also, I have found the teachers wonderful and always helpful. Academics are challenging, especially at the honors and AP levels. Sports and drama are excellent and most students do both a team and the spring musical or fall play.

I'm an alumna and think Bishop Fenwick is a great place. It can take you anywhere. There are so many schools which emphasize academics or are touchy feely about empathy and doing good, well Fenwick is the real deal.

I strongly do not recommend this school for a variety of reason..very poor administration; lack of support and follow-through; atmosphere uncondusive to student growth and learning and the lack of attention to the whole student.

There is flexibility within the curriculum to foster intellectual growth while accounting for individual needs. Teachers are personnaly connected with their students. Academics are strong and athletics are excellent. The school fosters a community spirit. all students are encoursaged to belong whether it is to a sport, a club, drama, art or music there is really something for everyone.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
