The school's culture is reasonably good, better than a lot of other schools. Our soccer and cross-country teams especially have a lot of fans, but other sports don't really get as much recognition. The majority of students here are average teenagers who get separated based on the rigor of their classes. But most of them are sociable and open to new students. There are a few decent teachers, but many aren't at the top of their game, especially in the chemistry and math departments. Overall, Pittsfield High is just an average school with a lot of potential. It could have a much better reputation if it encourages all students to learn and hires teachers who are more qualified in the subject(s) they specialize in.
yeah sure there are worst schools out there in the world but this one really have to learn what the word RESPECT means. I think that word is uknown to students AND staff there's only a few people I can take out like SOME decent teachers and the dean of students... but do you know how it is to not eat lunch for a whole year because no one wants you near their seat because you're "strange" a "freak" a "psycho" and all you can do is cry in the back hall... and do you know what it is to get hit in the face and YOU getting in trouble and you actually did not touch the person?.... oh I have a LONG list of things that should be fixed students here are just plain evil and most of the staff doesn't give a crap or either punish ALL the kids which is unfair because not ALL of them are doing this there's still the VERY small percent of people that are TRYING to learn... thank God the dean of students suggested me the program to finish high school at college. God bless her! because if I wasn't at BCC now I don't think I will still be here breathing honestly... This is why I wanna do Criminal Justice... I hate unfairness and evilness... people are evil man...
Despite being a school in 'transition' this school has maintained its acedemic integrety during a budget crunch time. It offers unparalleled opportunities in music, art, theater and vocational programs. It has also matained a high standard for honors and AP selections. For a small, economically challenged city, the school administration has done a great job!
This school is in a transition period with a new principal who seems to have a very proactive approach for making this school of a higher quality in terms of safety, parent/student/teacher involvement, etc. We are looking forward to a positive change in these areas and I firmly believe these goals are obtainable.
