I love this school! I am currently attending, and I love it! I used to have a class of 31 students at my old elementry school (it was a normal public school) but here at Rising Tide I have a class size of about 17, and with small classes we get to make stronger friendships and also strong relationships with our teachers. We also have really awesome test scores my class last year on the English Lanuguage MCAS got 23rd out of the whole entire state! Each year we have new goals and during report card time we all come up with things we really want to strive to reach. We take Latin with is so much fun and though it is a dead lanuguage it is good leading us to new paths. We have 2 Bands and a Jazz Ensamble, and also a school rock band! We also have tons of educational feild trips such as some of the 8th graders get to go to Rome Italy for a week which was so awesome! I really recomend this school if you feel unsatisfied with your school or are looking for a really good school with awesome people everywhere! p.s. The new high school begins next year!
I am a 6th grader at RTCS and I have loved every second spent at school. The academic system is great and challenging and the teachers are friendly. The years have flown by and I can't wait for another great 2 years!
My daughter is a 5th grader at RTCS. She loves this school. Pros:Great sense of community, small class size, extra activities built into the school day, band. She is still able to do soccer and gymnastics outside of school without impacting her school work. The only cons: alot of homework and her backpack is way too heavy...
Well, I am a student at risingtide and I LOVE SOCCER, and they dont have a soccer team at all they have a basketball for boys, and another one for girls. I had to write an essay to the school, saying that it wasnt reallly fair for their only to be a basket ball team. Well Now in the spring of 2011 we are starting 2 soccer teams. So if your kidslove sports i wouldnt really sujest this school, unless you wanna take risks. But if your o.k playing on town teams you would like this school! I mean the teachers are uselly nice but they can get angry at anything and they will jump on you .(NOt litterally) Also the lunch really stinks, and the homework is alot but i probablly can lift 120 pounds now!! :):):):):):):):):)
I have two children at Rising Tide and they both LOVE IT! For us, it's the perfect balance between public and private school. Small class sizes, alot of personal attention, and a very challenging curriculum make up for the fact that it's that there seems to be more homework and the school day is longer. My kids love the fact that their extracurricular activities are built into the day, and we love that their MCAS scores have gone up since beginning there!
Academically, I do not have an issue with this school, except for the amount of homework in each subject evey night. The fact that they must carry every book home every night because of their assignments, I believe is harmful to their backs because of the weight. Additionally, I have issue with the communication between parents and teachers. That as a parent, I must approach the advisor, who will then bring the issue to the appropriate teacher, who will then relay the answer to the parent through the advisor again takes too many steps. In any other school, the parent talks directly to the teacher, and not through a middle man, through which questions/answers can be mis construed. Another complaint is that there is no after school help for students in subjects they find difficult. Sometimes homework hall is not enough!
Great school. Good transition between elementary and high school. Teaches students to work hard, study hard and have fun too.
too much homework! the tests are too hard and the teachers are abusive
My son is new to RTCS this year. The staff is nice and mostly fair. The prinicpal and assistant principle are good and responsive. Whenever a child transitions to middle school, there are adjustments. RTCS does a good job in presenting a challenging curriculum, yet balancing that with fun activities. If your kids go to school here, I recommend that you keep extra curricular activities to a minimum. If you do that, then the workload is reasonable. If you are the type of parent that enrolls your child in a lot of extra curricular activities, then RTCS may be too much. I feel that schoolwork is the most important thing. One or two outside activities is fine, and necessary, but if you go overboard with that, then a child of this age will not be able to excel at academics.
Great school! I would recommend it highly. Only problem I see is no lockers and the backpacks are ridiculously heavy.
