When our daughter completed her freshman year at a highly rated public high school in California, we realized she had such poor reading and writing skills that college would be out of the question without better instruction and academic support for her language based learning disabilities. We found Landmark after careful research. It was a huge move for her and us, but the quality of education was worth it. She graduated, attended college (with a choice of several good colleges) and she is on her way to becoming a special education teacher. None of this would have been possible without the caring teachers, individualized instruction and Landmark's commitment to removing barriers to learning for their students.

My son graduated in 2009. His 3 years at LM high school really helped prepare him for college. He grew and matured in the supportive environment, gained knowledge about his learning disabilities and developed advocacy skills needed for college. His creativity increased as a natural outflow from the support, in writing, art, and filmmaking. With this came increased self esteem. I am so thankful we made the journey and found Landmark, for they provided what no other school could for our son.

Our son graduated from Landmark 2 years ago ('08) and absolutely loved his experience. He thrived academically as well as socially. Now as a sophomore in a competitive college, he credits his success to his experience at Landmark. The tools and strategies he learned at Landmark have carried beautiful over into his college life. Our son enjoyed the unique and creative performing arts program that enriched his life in many ways. His confidence and self esteem soared. As parents, we found his teachers outstanding, and administrators supportive and approachable. We were part of a special community of other Landmark parents and we continue to stay in touch. We highly recommend this extraordinarily creative school and only wish every child could have the opportunity to attend such a wonderful school.

If your child has dyslexia or a similar language based learning disability, this school can literally change his/her life. Very small classes (6 to 8 students pre class) and a 1-on-1 tutorial every day. It is not an easy program - students must work hard and are confronted with their learning disability every day. The faculty and staff are very dedicated to helping each student find success. The hard work pays off for most of the students. We could not be more pleased with Landmark.

Landmark is a wonderful place where academic programs are designed around each student's needs. Specializing in students with language-based learning disabilities, like dyslexia, the cornerstone of their Landmark program is a daily one-on-one tutorial. I would highly recommend taking a look at this school.

Landmark is an atypical School made for students with language based learning disabilities. Children from across the world attend this school. Go to the Landmark web site and visit the school. With an emphasis on a high teacher to student ratio and much time spent each day in 1:1 tutorials, Landmark is able to provide exceptional organizational skills to the students there. Landmark has helped my child tremendously. The tuition is remarkably high. If a student doesn't take advantage of the opportunities there or sees much of the work as 'incidental', that child was wasting either a great deal of their parents funds, or wasted our public funds due to transfers out of the public system with tuition paid by the public system. My child will obtain a good college education due to Landmark's programs. If you have an ATD situation, look at Landmark carefully.

Some of the classes at Landmark are inspirational and well-conducted, but many others seem to exist to serve the purpose of keeping the students busy. Landmark has a very rigorous study skills program which seems to be helpful to about half of their students and really tedious and pointless for the rest (but all students are required to participate). Landmark can be VERY academically helpful to students with many different needs, but I also strongly believe that it can be emotionally damaging.
