The Shrewsbury school system gets a lot of praise and respect that I don't think it deserves. They rely too much off of the standardized tests and pressure kids to meet those expectations. Honestly, for my kid, it is far too stressful how much they pressure them to meet their expectations. My kid is already far ahead of the curve, yet the school wanted her put into extra reading classes so she could "catch up" to the other students. Any parent knows every kid is different, six months difference in age is a long time for a 6 year old. I think it's too much pressure. Let them be kids. The next thing I wanted to mention is the admin. The principal is not appropriate for the job. I don't have the space here to write all my complaints about her unprofessionalism; let me just point out that I know she suspended a special needs child for 2 days. Massachusetts doesn't allow that. The public tax dollars now pays 50k/year to send this child to a private school for special needs kids. Truly I'm not thrilled with Coolidge. It's nice, but not great. I'd rather have my daughter a little more relaxed and enjoying childhood, and have an admin that knows what they're doing.
