I go to school here, and don't witness as much bad behavior as some of these reviews are saying. I assume that in any high school you are going to have the kids who joke off and the ones who stopped caring, it's been that way at every school I've ever gone to. The teachers in honors classes are very demanding and they make you work hard, but then you are prepared for college! Also, as far as things like later lunch goes, they are very good about it. For example, if they run out of food that you are standing in line for, they give you a free ticket to go get something else. My only complaint is that they do seem to favor the sports as they get much more funding than clubs. However, they do pay a lot more to be able to participate, and it gives the clubs a chance to have lots of team-building fundraisers. Overall, I love it as SHS and wouldn't choose to go anywhere else! :)

I am a freshman at this school, and I must say I like it mush more than middle school. With honors classes you have kids willing to learn and pay attention, and this allows you to learn more and have educational discussions between students and teachers. Everyone seems to be much nicer and since there ares so many kids there there is not just one group of populars who dominate everyone's lives. If your mean most people wont like you; at leas't this is what I have noticed but I don't have too much time to focus on people I do not socialize with. Overall it can be a challenging school if you put in the effort, its up to you what you want to do with the next four years. Also, the sports are great, everyone seems to be very nice and it is a bunch of fun. Get involved!

I feel like this school could use alot of improvement. I've been to many different schools and this school isn't the best. If you're not a jock you're a nobody. This school is segregated between the jocks and straight-edge people. Very hard to make friends here. And not that many choices in terms of classes and courses. Teachers are lazy

I have children who have graduated from Shrewsbury and St. Johns HS and we feel that Shrewsbury was equal academically with St Johns. Shrewsbury actually made the students work harder in the Honors and AP level classes. The children who worked hard and had parent involvement seemed to thrive. The bar is set high in the honors and AP level classes due to the area having a large population of parents who are research and medical physicians at UMass. The athletic programs are excellent as well as the Arts. My children were well prepared for undergrad and grad school.

I am a Shrewsbury alum and still believe Shrewsbury is a great school. There is only so much that can be done with behavioral issues and Shrewsbury still maintains strong academics/arts/athletics despite the issues of some rowdy kids. Maybe the behavior issues are stemming from their home lives and should be disciplined there rather than hindering their education.

I have a junior there who is involved in many aspects of school. The administrators are very visible and accessable to students. SHS offers numerous AP classes, and has a fantastic arts program with music and drama staff that goes above and beyond. Course selection is decent even with budget cuts

I attend currently Shrewsbury High school and enjoy it so much! the teachers are wonderful and so interested in the success of the students. The staff work very hard to provide a loving and safe environment for all the students.

The teachers and the administration at the school are excellent at getting back to your e-mails and phone calls. I find the teachers are excellent and very carrying, even though the school is big. The curriculum is excellent prep for college and the courses are demanding. I have never been to the school I found the students or the class rooms out of control. As my son is a Jr and getting ready to look at colleges, the guidance department has a very comprehensive schedule to guide the students and parents in the search.

The kids are out of control in this school and the teachers and principals do nothing about it. The classes are disrupted by out of control behavior and the kids that do want to learn can't because the teacher is constantly dealing with behavioral problems. If you make the administrators aware of the problem, the most they do is observe the class, but take no action. They do not enforce the dress code or the no cell phone rule. Students are constantly roaming the halls during class time. The other issue is having to pay $250 dollars to participate in a sport. If your kid gets injured, or can't participate for some reason, don't expect to see a penny of the money back. If your kid has a later lunch, the food is either cold or they've sold out of the main course. This school is a joke!

I do think that the school offers a great deal of activities/sports programs. The academics are wonderful. However, I have some serious reservations about the behaviors that go on there and the consequences. It seems as though the kids there can get away with just about anything. At freshmen orientation a different picture was painted. I am looking into other schools in our district through school choice based on the fact that the school has a serious problem with lack of discipline and respect.
