Extremely well-run school with highly committed teachers. Friendly student body and positive school culture; high degree of order and purposefulness. School has been extremely accommodating of my child's disability as well. Lots of boxed curricula, however; can't at this point judge the quality of the academics. Specialists seem extraordinary.
The Argenziano should have a much higher rating, test scores are not everything. There are a huge amount of ESL students at this school who literally will come in not speaking a word of English, so I suspect that contributes to the low scores. It is insane, however, the amount of growth these students make, and often having moved here from really tough circumstances and dealing with tough home lives. The teachers here are really smart, capable, and worldly. The diversity is amazing. The building culture is very sweet and the VP and Principal do a good job. There are also a lot of young parents who are very involved, this is probably the most up and coming school in Somerville. The building itself is very new and pleasant, Smartboards in every room (that I've seen), open areas, lots of light and space for student displays. There are actual fields for kids to play in outside the building instead of just black top. Overall, a very pleasant school!
