A medal winning school, ranked top 50 in the state. Offers incredible extra-curricular activities and has top notch sports and music programs. The marching band has traveled to Dublin, Ireland to take part in their st. Patricks day parade...they're amazing. The school has continually improved over the past decade, and if it keeps going in this direction, it will soon be one of the very best in massachusetts.

I'd like to give this school a higher rating, but in the past 20-30 years, it has gone downhill. I have a daughter here now, and although she loves being with her friends, almost every day she's telling me things you'd expect from an inner city school. Ironically, inner city schools have really cleaned up, while those in the suburbs are becoming what they were in the 70s and 80s.

Awesome music, arts and colorguard programs! Horray! :o)

As a former student and former faculty member of DY I have only good things to say about it. I had great teachers and a great experience at the school. The extracurriculars are phenomenal and the students here have so much talent and so much heart.

Our son graduated from D-Y in 2005! When entering 9th grade he had an opportunity for a full scholarship to go to a private local High School, but after we talked to the principal (Mr. Jenks), he decided to give D-Y a try. The AP courses are extemely challenging with small classes, and teachers that push students to do their best, and that's what made my son strive to be the best. He got full scholarship to a Private University and got a 3.66 his first semester there. He feels like he was very well prepared for college, thanks to his teachers . He wishes, AP classes will be availabale to all grade levels in the future. He was very active in Band as well. This school has it all, if the student wants it they will make it happen! A very caring community!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Massachusetts used the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) to test students in grades 3 though 8 and 10 in English language arts and math and in grades 5, 8, and 10 in science. The grade 10 MCAS is a high school graduation requirement. The MCAS is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Massachusetts. What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
